Thanks for the comments. I hope to make some more progress on the general build this week, and have the exhaust finished next week.

A few more bits done. A new header tank made and overflow tank. Wiring 90% done now, so I'm on to finishing the dash, gear shifter, and starting the diffuser.

So they are, they were just thrown on to get it moving. sad to say these wheels were brand new 3 1/2 years ago and never been driven.

Would you mind hurrying up and finishing this so you can put some miles on that gearbox and report back. Ta

Haha, I'm getting there! After a house move and two workshop moves, im finally finding all the missing pieces. And my OCD is now under control so I won't be remaking anything I have already made. 😄

A couple more bits finished off. Screamer pipe made complete with silencer 😂 and exhaust system mounted, just the tip to weld on once the diffuser is fitted.

Matty, that looks great!
Can I ask, do you purge or use solar flux? Also, what dia tungsten do you use? I suspect I'm trying to use too thick of a tungsten as I struggle to consistently keep the "rainbow"...
you got a pic of the manifold on the engine (out of the mini) and the down pipe?

Thanks Dave, I always purge with argon but I'pd like to try solar flux out for longer sections of pipe, as its takes ages to fill large hire pipe up. I'd always purge manifolds though, stain sheild is supposed to be good for back purging.

You need a gas lense and some 0.8mm filler rods, otherwise you end up putting too much heat in to melt the rod. 👍

I've yet to try a gas lens; is it really noticeable?
Tungsten size/type? I've been trying 2% Thoriated 1/16"

A Gas lense will makes loads of difference, at first it made things worse for me then I got used to it and it allows more heat and less "greying" of the weld. It's noticable when the lense starts to get blocked as the welds change colour. Tungsten type is red tipped 1.6mm. Torch angle should be between 0 and 10 degrees ish. A minimum of 10 seconds post flow too. And pre flow is also good for when the tungsten is poked out a bit further.

Just noticed the fuel rail - did you silver solder or braze the fuel hose adapters?

Also i think the Argon supplier makes a difference too, I'm on hobby weld stuff at the moment and not that inpressed.
