Recently been everywhere I the car got ove 2000 miles on it with no troubles made it to Belgium, brooklands , l2b etc just need to get a new radiator made at some point ! As it got a a bit warm in Belgium at one point,

So I treated myself to scs delta dash as it matches the Ecu etc so just onto tiding the car up now, hoping to get a full cage in pretty soon...

So after running up the strip at MITP i realised my tyres are spinning on the rims?

Is this normal with exaction splittims ?

Despite that I was really happy having achieved 8 or so runs under 15 seconds 😀
Best was 14.7

This was my first ever time down the strip so I'll like to aim for low 14s next year

Look into rimscrews, beadlocks could probably be made as your on splitrims but seems a little excessive

Tyre bead sealer might be worth a try.

It's usually used to deal with leaks caused by corroded alloy rims but my tyre fitter used it on my Mambas because he didn't like the way they don't have a raised lip where the inner edge of the bead would be (so can be pushed inwards quite easily under side loads).

He said it also acts like a glue - once the tyre was on he cleaned the usual lube off he had just used to get the tyre over the rim, then painted this stuff around the rim and bead before inflating the tyre into place. It came in a tin with a built in application brush, was black and smelled a lot of solvent.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Mark the tyre and rim to see how much.

But in extremely high grip scenarios with very hard launches and low tyre pressures yes this can occur.

It's also why when using full drag slicks, which often tubes should be used with, the tyres must be screwed to the rim.

But if you're saying a normal road tyre etc is doing it and none of the above conditions...then there is a serious problem.

Thinking of a gearbox change to the ib5 box from a diesel fiesta for a couple reasons

1, the ratios
2, there are plenty of lsds available
3, it's quite a bit lighter

What do you think of these ratios (all calculated for 10" Wheels)
Should improve my quarter mile as I should be able to pull away in second still

First is my current 6spd focus

Second is the 1.4 diesel fiesta one

1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th looks like quite a jump... You really need to do at least a sawtooth and ideally a tractive effort plot. I've got a xls somewhere from when I was in the transmission engineering industry, and I simplified it a lot to make it more user friendly... I'll see if i can find it.
