Fair enough, more than likely the box had the diff stuck in and then bolted to the block, probably hasn't been touched - Whether you'd risk it or is another matter *tongue*

After the things i have seen done to this engine i might just push it into a dusty corner for a while ha ha.

I will take some photos of it and let you guys see what you think to it.

From what I saw I would deffo be having the diff out. My money says it won't be shimmed up properly.

Picked up a cheap SPI tank at the weekend with a fair bit of petrol still in it!

Finally found out my SC drop gears are 1:1 ratio.

Am i correct in thinking this is a standard ratio?

Had a very productive weekend!

Dropped subframe and old engine out.
Completely stripped the subframe ready for a clean and paint.
Has a quick look behind the flywheel cover of the old engine and found lots of oil.

What radiators are you guys using?? putting a parts order in for a few little subframe bits and need a new rad for the turbo engine.

Are the knuckles in the upper arms supposed to be round in the cup? looked at new replacements and they are cone shaped.

Cheers its my old mans bike.

Hmmmm the knuckles i have ordered are cone shaped, didn't see any round versions on minispares.

Got the subframe de-greased and wire wheeled the slight rust off.

Stripped old engine for the gearbox and idle gear and drop gears. Got 5thou end float.

Hopefully should get the new ball joints fitted this week and hubs and upper arms cleaned and painted.

How big does the driveshaft hole have to be enlarged by to get the pot joint through?

I hammered the holes larger on mine, then repainted the affected area.

They should be "cone shaped" if you have ordered the complete joint.
On the inside, the steel bit, and the inside of the nylon cup, is round.
On the outside of the nylon bit it should be cylindrical with a cone shaped end.

How the hell do you guys get the motion needle bearing out of the flywheel housing! Tried the grease method but no luck

Presume you mean just the race behind the retaining spring clip?

I'm about to try and get mine out. I read somewhere about putting it in the oven at a high temp and then dropping the casing on the floor which should make it come out.
