Well me and the misses finally moved into our first house together last week, 6 months after the offer was excepted! So for the past couple of months I have been restoring furniture so the mini has taken a back seat. Started back up again with it this week and hoping to put more hours in now.

Been working on the front panel altering it back to original. Mine was already cut off so just been working off pictures so it won't be 100% accurate.

Here it is before I started, already cut the number plate brackets off.

Cut the corner peices out and made the new ones

Then I had a go at removing this lump, had a go with a hammer and dolly and it came out ok for a first attempt but far from perfect

Finished it off tonight, spot welded the number plate brackets back on.

That's it for now, cheers

Cheers

Been getting them from a few places really, build threads on the mk1 forum, there's a website called boot2bonnet which shows the same alterations being made and google images has come in useful as well

Didn't realise the brackets are so far apart on mk2's!! Same for mk1's too?

Yeah mk1s are the same as well, also foundd out that the indicator plinths are smaller on early minis so this needs sorting as well

Not had much to update on this recently due to Christmas and have been snowboarding as well but getting back into it again now. Inner wing is nearly ready to weld in, had to modify the panel to original spec as with most of the other panels.

When i started

The lumps removed and the strengthener welded on

Decided to weld the inner A panel on now whilst I can still get the spot welder arms in

That's it for now, will try and get it welded in at the weekend. Cheers

Yeah there are quite a few differences so save it if you can, mine had already been cut off unfortunately.

All looks a bit alien to me welding up the a panel and inner wing without trial fitting the door....

Cheers for the comments.

The doors been on and off a few times during fitting the inner a panel and inner wing together , and I lined everything up again before it was welded in so I know it all still fits where it should

Cheers Dave, I'm not sure if I will put it into any concours maybe once the turbo engine is installed I will but it's never going to be a standard car so wouldn't win in a standard concours. But I'm building it to use properly, it's never going to be a trailer queen.

A pillar closing panels were welded in on Friday, the dash rail is ready to weld in but I ran out of time.

Then today I got the scuttle welded in

Not a bad fit with the bonnet but still will need a bit of work

That's it for now
