Evening all...... Found a little bit of welding I had to do, then the angle grinder blew up so off to Wickes who wanted £45 for one........ Got one from B&Q in the end £25 quid and same brand as the last one which lasted 3 years.

Managed to remove a lot of the rubber sound deadening matting too, just bits stuck on in various places still.

Today the old man put a coat of red oxide over the seam sealed areas, now it's completely ready for Stonechip to go on underneath.

I just spent a bit of time when I came in from work removing the horrible sound deadening crap and tarred on stuff inside again.

Slow but sure progress.

Hey all,

Question, the cover on the bulkhead that the wiring loom goes through,

I unfortunately ended up wrecking my one trying to get it off, I can’t find one on Minispares or eBay ?

What is it actually called ? ?

Thanks
Jamie

This took 3 and a half bottles to coat, I am more than chuffed with the quality and the finish of it, it is so easy to spray on as well *smiley*

Oh yeah, the guy in the overalls is me *happy**happy*

Morning all,

I am looking at recoating my subframes with the Hammerite Yellow but spraying it on this time, having never sprayed from a compressor or the guns, i have Smooth Hammerite Yellow Paint.

How much should I thin it down ?

50 / 50 with some Cellulose thinners ? (I have a High Gloss Celly thinner)

Any tips on coating and recoating and application would be great,

Thanks

Jamie.

I think you'll need to use the hammerite thinners for smoothright - what does it say on the tim about thinning?

There is some 'special' hammerite thinners, might be worth having a look on the thinners tin. *oh well*

I'd just thin it down to a 'normal' spraying thickness. Bascially the thickness of double cream. lol

Reference my question earlier on thinning Hammerite Smooth, it says on tin not to thin it, but I think that is if you are brushing it on.

See link and below;

http://www.hammerite.co.uk/guide/direct_to...ooth_finish.jsp

Coventional spray application: Thin with Hammerite Brush Cleaner & Thinners at a ratio of 15% Thinners to Paint. Set spray gun at 25/35psi and use full fan spray at maximum volume. Apply 4 thin coats. Allow 1 hour between coats. Refer to spray equipment manufacturer's guidelines for the correct and safe use of sprayers.
