so last night I spent the most part of an hour upside down fighting with a wire and a molex pin kinda wishing I had more then 2 hands!

But success was on my side and eventually I won and put the pip wire pin into the correct slot and fired up the laptop. Plugged everything in and loaded the std turbo map onto the MJ and fired her up again.

Im not entirely sure what was managing her before as it wasn’t picking up the engine speed but all is fixed now. I have a rpm and a green square firing all over the place . Run it for 20 mins and was fine and didn’t combust with lights on or anything like that.

Need to do some reading to look into how to adjust things like soft limiter and hard limiter and if anyone may have some other maps which might be better for my engine that would be cool.

Basic spec is: 1293, T2, Cr 9:1 (there abouts), 0.7 bar (10.2 psi) with IC, phase 2 cam.

Not really sure what power to expect but hoping it will be a nice drive. Fast but not always breaking fast.

All im waiting for now is air filter, some lil nuts and an engine steady that I will probably mount tomorrow. Oh and go around and tighten everything.

Then I think I am ready for an MOT. I cant really think of anything else I can do to it; it’s a strange feeling……

I’m sure I may have more questions on the MJ side but I will try and read first and use the search etc etc

ps: i havent forgotten about the above i've just not been home much on my laptop :)

hit a bit of a wall today...or tonight.

basically went up and down my road only to see how it ran on the std turbo map now it was picking up and rpm on the mj. seemed to be running loads better.

anyway on my return trip in first the wg opened a bit so i changed gear as to not make to much boost and then a few seconds later almost like a delay i had a backfire; although i oringally though i heard a noise coming from the engine. Poodled off just coasting in 2nd then the thing just died.

i've checked spark and i think i had some kinda fuel pressure on the gauge but it wouldn't bite. plugs were really black and sooty but not soaked.

tomorrow my plan is if in (failing that saturday) check pulley and pick up, check fuel to the carb, rockers are ok and move.

can you guys think of anything else i could check, any help is greatly appreciated as was hoping to get it mot'd at the start of feb.

thanks

got it sorted. came home tonight to try and run some tests. supermottolee decided to join me and help which i was very grateful for :) i always get more done with him about cracking the whip lol

anyway.....without being a complete dick we checked a few things and worked out it was the fuelling. we couldnt work out if there was any in the tank so we went and got some more petrol.

when we got back we let the pump drain it and what came out was just shy of a ltr of non flammable shite that looked like someone had pissed down into my tank. i guess the dude who i got this tank off had petrol in there for a while :S

put new fuel in and hey presto fired......cunting thing!

we then plugged in the computer and tried to get it idling better and tried to look at the various maps i had to see if we could tweak any. once we were happy with that i we then mocked up the force racing steady and fitted that to the lower front subframe. required some drilling and grinding of the bracket but the engine is now properly secure and not just on the clutch to bulk head box.

soooooo, i think its ready for an mot......

but i did get this from carl today. i know its only small but the dsn one was really bugging me for some reason and i like the fact its not as chunky.

so thanks carl and force :)

well i doubt the car will see much use when it rains but i'll cover it up if it is stood still. going to look at making a little cap for it.

when its diving though i dont think there will but much of an issue to much as the pipe will be hot so will just evaporate....i hope

Yeah that sounds ok, i was interested as i thought the car was kept outside, so water might collect there a bit if it rains alot.

always covered mate. the only time it will be uncovered is when i drive it to work and shows and if its raining i'll just take my aygo; unless i get caught out at work which wont be an issue i'll just cover the hole up with tape or my cap i make.
