Oh yea, i see how it is now. Very trick.

Good value then at that price.

I was going to ask if it was an easy install.
But will instead ask, if it was "straight forward" install. I can imagine lots of tinkering about

The blue thing under the thermostat housing is interesting. Do you have mounted a second engine steady on the other side of the engine?

re- the megajolt

I made a clamp out of some aluminium that had some thick rubber/foam underlay stuck to it, this is bolted to the shelf and when you tighten it up, it gives the MJ a little squeeze to hold it in place.

The rolling road just said the grassers use some foam and a cable tie. Not a neat solution for a car like yours...

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Hi lads, well I had the car on the rollers today. It all started good then the trigger wheel came off but it was ok as we got it back in and some spot welds to stop it coming off again. But the timing is out a lot now I ended up with 112bhp which I don’t think is not bad at all so I go tomorrow to Newquay .
O yes i found a plug which works on the denso it was from demont weeks

The mk1's Riviera Run

Well, on the way to Newquay, all was well with the car. It was sitting quite happily on the road at between the 80-90mph mark and 5000rpm. It looked like I may be overcharging the battery with the new jap alternator, so I decided to run with the headlights on to draw some of the current. On getting to the camp, at the gate when paying I noticed a nice big plume of smoke coming from the bonnet. When I opened it up it turned out the side light wire had somehow earthed out on the bodywork and melted right back to the switch. I lucky I caught it in time. So after pitching the tent I had to source some wiring to replace what was burnt. Whilst I was working in the engine bay I looked down and saw that something was amiss with the new censor bracket (lets just say lock tight wasn't that lock tight !) That was the second incident on day one.

Roll on day 2 when me and Jo decided to have a laugh and put the car into the show and shine against the concourse mark ones. The car generated a lot of interest and I never shut up all day, answering questions. There were 3 judges, (we even tried to bribe them with sweets) one of them stood about 3 ft away and never spoke, the other old guy just mumbled and looked unimpressed because it was modified and not smelling of old people, and the last guy was awesome, he loved the car and was trying to get the others to increase the points. When the mumbler asked me if I brought it to show on a trailer I replied, "no I thrashed the shit out of it yesterday all the way here, I built it to drive it not polish it", I knew it was going downhill from then on. Near the end of the show the cool judge came back and said that the car had caused a lot of controversy because it was being judged against original untouched mark ones, the closest they would give me was third place.

In the evening I got round to putting faces to names at the Turbo Minis dinner, me and Jo would like to say a big thankyou for inviting us and we had really nice time and look forward to seeing everyone at Avon.

Roll on day 3 and we went on a run with some of the club members to Lands End, the long way! when the rod change oil seal popped out and it was leaking lots of oil until I managed to push it back in when we finall got back to the camp.

Day 4 we had a fight with a speed bump and it pushed the exhaust back against the anti roll bar so we had to find a garage prepared to let us use the ramps.

Day 5 (today) we set of at about 11am and drove it at a steady 80-90mph all the way home, with a couple of loo stops and the car looking a lot lower at the back (due to Jo's trip to the cyder farm) we made it back to Surrey in 4 and half hours.

Jobs that have been identified and need to be rectified,preferably before London to Brighton;
1) larger pulley for the alternator
2) a machine bottom pulley
3) new front wiring loom

well it's been a busy week. After the, what I thought was a small, electrical fire, I decided on Saturday to remove the loom and see if I could patch it up. After sitting for about 4hrs carefully unbraiding the loom with a razor blade I found that the sidelight wire had burned all the way from the front to the switch and toasted a few other wires as well. At that stage it turned into a much bigger job than first thought. So, as a jobs worth doing and all that (well i think i have OCD), and a big order from Vehicle Wiring Products Ltd, I decided to start it again and incorporate the megajolt and move a lot of the relays, and the edis to inside the dash. While I was at it I got a bit fuse happy and made a new passenger dash with more fuses. I am pleased with the end result as I have managed to reroute the cables at the front making the engine bay a lot tidier. Looks like i will be going to L2b now i will be on the mini mag stand come and say hi.
I will Let the pictures do the talking as they say.

when i started

the big box of bits

then

the new front part

the new dash

So how did you get the alternator to work properly in the end?

I seriously doubt it!
