That looks great Rob, my 3 years young paint job is terrible. Bits flaking off all over the place, but it's getting abused this season as thats what it's for. It can wait until winter for a tart up.

well a bit more progress last night.

I've now got 3 of the 4 arches fitted (couldn't be bothered on the NSR as I need to take the tank out to fit it and time was getting late!). Also fitted the mirror shells, wiper bezels and wiper arms, bonnet badge and front number plate. I have to say it is starting to look like a complete car now.

Bits still to do;

fit NSR arch
secure air filter (temp)
fit locking trim to rear screen seal
run washer jet pipe to rear
finish trimming rear seat back and base
carpets
fix slow puncture
fit correct steering wheel
wire up AFR
change plugs
fit passenger seat
fit seat belts
lower a bit more (I'll need to machine the front adjusters down though as these are already at their lowest setting)
fit mirror glass
and no doubt a 100 other little bits!

Are they new rubber cones Rob? If so I'd be tempted to leave em as it will probably drop during use.

Looking good!

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Keep seeing ds3's in grey with a similar colour roof. Always reminds me of this car though.

I know, so do I; I had the idea first though, although no doubt anyone who doesn't know the car will think I've copied it!

Got a bit more done last night. The last arch is now fitted and the rear screen seal locking bead fitted again. Rear number plate is on too. Central locking started playing up last night as well but i'm not going to have time to fix it before the show.

so the revised plan is;

fit new plugs
secure air filter
route cables for AFR
fit glass to mirrors
fit interior mirror
fit sill trims
run washer jet pipe to rear
finish covering rear shelf and seat back
fit passenger seat
change steering wheel
make up and trim rear 1/4 panels
clean and polish car
fix slow puncture

on top of that, I need to do a couple of bits on the trailer before we set off and perhaps spend a bit of time with the family!

I went back up to the workshop at the weekend to tidy up the exploded diagram of bits and tools left at my arse in the panic to get the car 'finished' for MITP. Took it out for a couple of photos as I never took any at MITP.

Still got a few bits to do to get it finished. The plan is to have these all sorted for the end of the month. Come pay day, I'll hopefully have it insured so it can go for its MOT and then I can start putting some miles on it.

Well, i've not lifted a finger to the car since MITP, having been distracted by diy at the house, work, family, metro engine build etc.

Anyhow, the wife has been nagging that i need to get the car finished so am going to concentrate on this car for a couple of months.

The principle reason is that i need a straight cut box and drops for the metro and quite frankly dont have the cash at the moment. Now, casting my memory back to the first drive in th car, all i could think was "feck me, those drops and the sc box are noisy"! Now the car was built as a sort or Rover factory car look so i suppose the sc stuff goes against this. Given the car is destined for the road and i now have the metro for the track, and having read up a bit on the standard helical stuff (particularly Roberts positive reports on his),i've decided to swap the box and drops for a helical set and donate to the metro build.

So the next month or so should entail some sourcing of the necessary bits needed (new cross pin diff, bearings etc) in rediness for the rebuild of the spare box i have sitting in the shed and perhaps a weekend swap.

After that, i've got a few loose ends to finish off before it goes for the mot. Plnning on this around april which then gives me a bit of time to get the metro finished for mitp........
