Still lots to do and find! Since my house move last year, I can't seem to find anything, it's split between two workshops and the garage in boxes. *oh well*

Once the brace bars are finished the next job on the list is to make a new downpipe and full 2.5" exhaust system. Then it's a case of bolting most things back on as I find them! Lol then finish off the wiring I started 2 years ago, I've got a feeling that'll take some time remembering what I was doing!

Hi Matt,

Long time no speak, I've not been very active on TM since selling my mini. I had therefore completly missed your transmission build.

I am blown away by it, it is one of the most ambitious homebrew engineering projects I have ever seen and I think it has been carried out brilliantly!

I have everything crossed that it works out well in the road testing!

Matt, just flown through this entire thread - been a hell of a long time (years) since I've looked at it. The work on the gearbox is just unreal - hope it all works out well!

Thanks for the comments, it's been a while yet again since any updates!

I managed to take the mk1 for a spin this weekend and get some time on this project. I got a few odds and sods finished off, and finally got my rad mounts all finished. It's mostly just assembly work now, which I'll try and get a few hours in here and there. I need to give this a shakedown before the end of summer.

It is the ali cored item as it measures the same 25mm thickness as the one I have.

I've got a feeling it is Brett. It wasn't very expensive put it that way. I only swapped out my original copper one as it had a slight leak and this one was lighter. Have you got a link to the decent ones? If anything my old rad made it run a little too cool, so this may work ok. I'll get it running and see what its like.
Yes Andrew, this one has the 25mm core.

My ali cored item was half the price of the thicker tube and fin rad.

This is an ali cored job -

You can see the higher number of horizontal cores in the above item compared to this one -

It's been a while since an update!

Lots of odd jobs finished off...brake reservoirs plumbed in and all brakes lines finished and connected up. Alternator spacers made up and now all mounted. New trigger sensor bracket made, gearbox shifter arm, dog legged for better alignment, new plenum made up. And lots of parts found that were lots during our house move! It's getting ever closer now, I've decided to tidy up the water coolant setup, so this will be all Aluminum instead of lots of hoses joined together, then it's onto finishing off the wiring.

Haha tell me about it, I was considering stripping and cleaning it, and machining up an aluminium pulley for it, but I decided it wasn't worth the risk of braking it.

Well it's been a while since the last update, I've not had much time to work on the car due to work and kids. I have made an effort to finish it off now for this summer, so lots of odd jobs finished off and some other major reworking as usual!

Plenum all finished off with throttle cable bracket and vacuum takeoffs. All of the tatty old hoses replaced with some shines blue ones.

I decided to replace my oil catch tank, and made a nice lightweight one, saved about 500g!

It just about fits in! Next job will be to make the header tank for the other side, then finish the plumbing.

Next job was to make a new exhaust manifold with an external wastegate. After having major boost surge when running above 25psi I thought it makes sense to start from scratch....just waiting for the flanges to arrive now to finish it off.

I still have the full system to finish off, a bit of wiring, a rear diffuser to make, and hopefully going to swap to COPS too whilst finishing the wiring off.
