Thanks will its a 1.5 mm plate in the end from ferriday, I checked the chambers, and gasket but it was impossible to measure the bit above the piston as the outside edge is a bit below the block but the piston has a slight dome so it was an assumption that they are essentially flat to the top of the block for sake of argument. We also reverse calculated it from the engines standard figures which about confirmed it, this plate should give 9.4:1.

I have just put the std pulleys back on for now but im aware its hardly ideal, this gearbox is also wrong, it's only gonna give me 98mph at 7k in 5th lol. Plus the injectors will probably need changing and the fuel pump. What I want to do is just get thr thing running to see if it has potential and worth spending more time and money on and then change bits as needed-experience has tought me I rarely get it right first time lol.

On the OMS it's chain driven cams with no adjustment (cam and sprocket are a single item) so we have at least 3 deg advance on the cams. Works fine.

interesting to know, as I recall you were going to look at the possibility of having some machining work, bits made ect to correct the timing, interesting that it works ok without.

CertainIy the cam belt went on fine with all marks where they should be and sprockets and flywheel locked in std position, imat most i had to back the crank in opposite direction to normal rotation a tiny tiny bit, I guess that means im going to be a bit retarded, no change there then lol

I like the choice of engine colour, very smart. Can't wait to see the final product.

It wasn't so much a choice as-I had a full tin of it on the shelf so that's the colour it was going to be-budget build remember lol!
