Sure is Andy - especially when I look back nearly two years and see what a heap of crap I started out with.

Always nice to have your input Rob - shame we did not meet at MITP.

Well. I jumped around a bit this morning and the engine and gearbox are in !

Note the adapted stands - I had to make these to allow the legs of the engine hoist go between them.

Still got lots to do obviously.

Will star on the brakes now and do bits and pieces on the manifold and exhaust when I feel like a change. I need to make a complete exhaust system and the gap between the rack, the bulkhead and the turbo outlet looks like being a tricky one to solve.

I'm sure we'll catch up again Dave.

engine looks fantastic in the bay. On a side note, I like your hub brackets for the axle stands; only concern is how do you stop them rotating off if the car is 'knocked' in some way or another or are they pretty stable?

If you try to visualise what would happen if they tried to rotate you will see that they would have to go a long way before collapsing. In any case, if you look again, I have the rear wheels on ramps, with chocks held in place with G cramps.

I have seen the results of what happens if you are under a car when it falls, you see.

In fact when I was 18 and a junior mechanic, someone accidentally let a Mini down on me. Luckily, I was under the sill and floor area so the weight was spread a bit and all that happened was that I swore mightily and kicked the arse of the bloke on the jack when I got out.

Done a bit more recently.

Doors now all fitted up with windows and locks working - what a PITA they are to do.

Been fiddling about a bit with fitting up some of the body parts too, just to encourage myself a bit before I start on the wiring.

They look almost like twins !

Pedal box, master cylinders and heater assembly all in now

That may be some while yet as all that you see is superficial.

Still to dress the engine, make an exhaust, install all the brakes and fuel system, sort out the wiring and then trim the whole vehicle.
