Not much to report since the last post.

Mini is still looking a little worse for we're but it's not as bad as expected. There's no rust under the paint where it had started to lift and hopefully will be back home at the weekend.

Both wing and scuttle jams have been dug out.

Still need to get the final bits on the engine complete ready for the minis return, got to make new fuel lines. Am I right in thinking 8mm supply and 10mm return?

Theres a little where the scuttle joins the post *oh well*

The yellow is primer.

Didn't realise how thick the paint was, must be an inch thick *surprised*

Best get polycarbonate windows to balance it out.

Have you had to grind the block to clear the turbo housing? How have you done the oil drain?

No need to grind the block as it clears.

One of the ealier picturs shows this i think, as for oil drian i have the standard GT1752 drain and DSN connector for the old fuel pump hole but not had time to fab it up yet.

Hmmm i mocked mine up on a spare block and it catches :( so not sure if it does on my other block.

The oil drains are so close together i found silicone pipe just kinks.

Did you have a head gasket on your spare block? that can make a difference.

Apologies Nick, only got in garage last night and left phone at home with picture on.
There is i clearance once the turbo is clocked, and the original actuator bracket cut off.

Small update:

Mini is now back from paint and looks amazing again on the outside, i am not over happy with the painting of the turbo box but thats something i can sort when the subby if removed.

Now need to start to think of what bits i need to order to complete the mini ready for the end of April.

Hi Nick,

Hear are the pictures of my GT1752 fitted to the Matty Manifold.

As you can see there is plenty of clearance from the back of the block.

I hope this helps.

Well the mini is now home from paint and looks great, need to tidy up the turbo box a little but am happy with the job done. The mini still needs a good clean but since no windows are fitted, it will have to wait.

Managed to build a new dash with some additional gauges for the turbo build (boost / AFR) also have a boost controller to fit, which will be mounted where the ash tray is.

Also have the RTS clutch back from Sprocket, which is a work of art *smiley* ended up using a 1000 and uprated blue dot spring so should have plenty of clamping force.

Next job is to get the mini off the ground and make / fit the new fuel flow and return lines. done some research and fitting a 8mm flow and 10mm return as this seems the norm on here. Also as said before is to tidy up around the turbo box with some stone chip, a little more paint and some heat shielding.

More progress made today, not as much as i really wanted but will get there.
Finished the turbo drain using a DSN part and a cut down gt1752 drain, fouund a piece of old radiator hose off my NC30 which finished the job off.

Now the drain is fitted the the turbo is in the correct position looked at finding the right location for the actuator, going to down it off at the welders on monday to have the bracket welded on.

Also look at getting the heat to fit in its original location with the turbo box fitted, decided to cut the back off the heater and remove the fan as i dont think i've ever used it in 3 years. Still wanted so form of heater for demisting while driving.

Cut the original brackets down and welded them to the turbo box, which now puts the heater back in its original position and doesn't look out of place. Just need to weld a flat piece of plate in the back and rebuild.

Final job of the day was to check that the new gauges cleared the roll bar as made the dash at work and forgot about the brace bar, luck enough the gauges clear.

Great progress! Two words of advice:

Turbo drain: use a samco 90deg bend instead of the rubber hose you have fitted which will disintegrate in no time with all the heat and be a b*tch to change with the engine fitted.

Heater: without a fan that heater is next to useless, either scrap it completely and introduce the heater feed into the main cooling system to aid #4 cilinder cooling or fit a T7 lightweight heater (having a functional screen demist is a MOT requirement here in Holland, don't know about you guys)

Thanks for the advice and noted.

I've never used the fan in the 3 years the mini was on the road so out it came, i still have the fresh air feed from under the bonnet to force are through the heater matrix (the pictures dont show the matrix fitted).

May look at putting a 12v computer fan behind the matrix if required.

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

Lake District

Don't just use an ordinary Samco hose for the drain though, it needs to be the correct type to handle oil.

The standard turbo oil drain is a 90 too, someone will probably have one spare

Some more progress made today, removed both subbies to test fit a set of SPI fuel lines but not 100% sure there correct location under the mini.

Edit:
Just done some digging and found that the SPI / MPI lines only fit these mini *frown*
