Having a right fucking game with this, Engine and box are built back up with a 3.6 diff. So dropped the engine in yesterday morning and cant for the life of me get the engine mount bolts in. Got 2 in but the other two wont line up!

So tomorrow ill have another go with my mate who is coming to help.

Want to 10 x 6 splits all black badly.

Fot some unknown reason spent £95 on a billet alloy oil filter housing and braided hose kit today.

So theres not much progress.

Brought a new billet alloy

Gave it a quick blast round the block, managed to get it running tonight. Still think the 3.6 diff is too tall.

With my 3.2 it was ridiculous, i could get 80mph in 2nd gear. Ive only just given it a blast round the estate tonight and the roads were frosty but ill get a better idea over the next few days.

Bolt a turbo on, that'll make the gears feel shorter. *wink*

It'll depend on the cams, since if its pretty much all up top in the revs, pootering around will make any FD feel too tall, but when it gets into the power band of the cams, all hell breaks loose. I't might be difficut to get a comprimise, but an engine like this should be driven everywhere at 5krpm + with a 4.1:1 FD lol

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Take a plug out. I bet its pissed wet through. Crabs plus what looks like old school ignition system. Might be worth putting some 21st century ignition system on to. Mega jolt sorted mine out for starting + high torque starter. High compress and very cold engines are buggers to start.

I run a 3.9 on the road with 1:1 drops works fine for me.

Nice Car. Good luck getting it sorted.

I'd agree with this, the DON can be an utter cunt to start from cold.

The compression is only 10.5:1. I'm going for an omex ECU probably when I go for fuel injection, so I don't really want to shed out on a mega jolt. I've got a brise high torque starter.

It's just being a idle bastard.

Take the plugs out for 1/2 hr, clean and gap them, dont use the choke just pump the throttle 6-10 times

I seriously doubt it!

Surely the poor starting is just the reality of trying to start an engine of this nature in these cold conditions. Mine is an utter twat to start when its anwhere near freezing. Hopefully a shiny new set of plugs will help the matter.

Infact what plugs are you running? for the road I run bp7s and on the track bp8's. It won't even start from cold on bp8's

Try warming the plugs up, then put them in and try starting it. This has worked for me in the past...obviously not a long term fix though.

in cold weather we always start and warm up on the soft plugs
when its warm swap them over
even with management , its kinder to the thing
