What's the plan? Same engine with more of a spaceframe affair and spangly suspension?

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Progress has been a lot slower than expected, goal posts keep moving, but here are some updates.
The rear arches where removed:

a new rear arch was constructed higher up and further back than before.

the shell was blasted again to remove the gay yellow

The front cage was extended further forward to allow a ridged fixing point of the coil overs

new shock mounts fabriacted

A new geartower was created, ready for new billet housing to follow
While all this was going on, I started working on a new pedal box

I also made some new top arms which should make the car 90mm wider

and here is the new rear hubs, with slots in the disks for wheel speed sensors.

The rear beam and back arms are still work in progress, both made from t45.

Camber adjustment will be on back arm, and tracking will be done on the beam axle.

Because the car is going to be so wide, there were no wheel archers I could find available to cover the wheel arches. so I started extending a set using mdf, a glue gun and some fibreglass. Horrid job, this took ages!!! I also made side skirts and modified a lower front airdamn

I have this plug to a friend who made a mould from them and supplied me with these:

with all this gay bad boy boost style body kit, and with the car going so low I know I would never get a jack under it. So brackets were fabricated for air jacks.

I still have some small brackets to fabricate before the car goes for paint this week. Engine is ready to drop back in, along with new turbo and manifolds.

Next big job is the wiring loom, by far will be most fiddly I've done, with loads of data logging for downforce, traction control, antilag, drive by wire, pit lane speed limiters, flat shifters, methanol injection, coil on plug.I think I'll need a lot of wire!!!

Looks excellent, lots of good stuff going on

Be interested to know what weight you can get the beam and rear arms down to.

Good to see the rear trailing arms have some height / depth in section to maintain some camber stiffness, there are plenty out there that don't

Don't stick your foot under the air jack *wink*

I'll weigh them when they are done. It's amazing how much a standard radius arm flexes with 8" wide sick on the back. A

Yeah radius arms a bit of a disaster especially for camber stiffness.

I also think toe stiffness can be a problem but that's more to do with the attachment stiffness of the beam / heelboard combined.

When my beam is finally done I am going to test the KAD arms vs Standard, I couldn't get any info for KAD or SC as far as stiffness values go, so have to measure it myself.

Is your beam O.D. 38.0mm and 2.0mm wall?

Cheers

we went for 50mm 2mm wall to keep it stiff.

Your right about the heal board, it's not that stiff at all, hopefully the spine running the length of the car should help stiffen it up a littlle

If your not already, I'd definitely try and have the area where the rose joints attach to the beam connected back through the heelboard to the tube you have inside the car the other side of the heelboard.

I think in many ways the rear suspension stiffness (In terms of how much parts flex not coil spring rate) is more important than the front as far as feeling confident in cornering / on turn in.

the boxes which the cage sits on connect around where the std holes are in the heel board, it's not perfect, but hopefully should be ok

Very impressive ideas and fabrication... i think the air jacks are awesome! Does it have a air tank like air ride would have??

No, you just have air bottles in the pit lane and plug the air bottles into the car when it comes in.
