From Sheffield now live in York tha noz

Is the thermostat underneath or on top of your sandwitch plate?

I know your not using the 6 blade now but I would want more clearence between that breather and the fan, as Toms said above you have to watch for vibration and movement of everything at high revs.

clearance is even greater with the plastic fan.

The thermostat is in the head not the sandwich plate as I was advised on here to do this.

No I havent tried flipping it upside down, will give it a shot tomorrow will post up some more pictures soon and will be getting my uncle to possibly do some more welding for me tomorrow so could weld another piece onto the sensor bracket to stiffen it up

When I fitted my plastic fan I allowed about 3 to 4mm, because at speed the fan flexes towards the breather closing the gap, telling you this because my first fitting when I had that type breather, it stripped the paint off it and I had take the olé lot off again to make the gap wider. hope this helps..Alan

Also after a while the heat and pushing agains the air gives the placky fans a bend to them.

Okay yesturdays progress:

I had to get the turbo sorted out, as the only thing stoppign me getting the engine in is the manifolds and the downpipe, so I had to get it sorted:

Fitted the exhaust housing to manifold

Got the core turned to the right location:

Played around with the compressor housing on the old turbo for a bit as my uncle thought there would be a water seal that would need replacing if we took it to bits, took old one apart and nothing to worry about so I spent a bit of time unsticking the new turbo housing and then rotated it to make it fit the engine:

Then fitted the water fittings from old turbo and now im waiting on my uncle/dad to make me an actuator bracket and an oil return:

Cheers :)

Okay so heres a weeks worth of updates:

Time to dig the mini out of the graveyard:

It survived the graveyard :) my first car thats ever made it out of there

Time to sort the SPI fuel tank and pump out, Molly came to tell me how to do it:

Time to syphon the fuel out of the old tank:

Well that was grotty

replacing my rear shocks:

Who only changes 1 shock and why would you use a gas shock and an oil filled shock?

Old back box off:

Fuel tank out and I put my thumb through the floor:

I must be doing it right as she is sleeping:

Little hole became a bigger one:

Bugger!

Heres how it finished this day:

The To-Do list:

Getting the hole in the boot floor sorted:

Grind it down:

Remove bracket:

Cut the shit out:

New plate welded in and put tiger seal around it to seal it properly:

So I ended up doing quite a bit without taking any pictures, this was:

Making an actuator bracket
My dad made an oil return for me
Uncle welded the actuator bracket for me
Modified the actuator to fit the turbo.

Got the SPI tank in, that was a right fucking ball ache because we had to take the bracket out that the tank strap bolts to because of the hole in the floor and it didnt fit so had to chop it about a bit:

Oil Return:

Modified Actuator:

Okay so I didnt get the engine in today :(

main reason why was because I snapped the stud in the exhaust housing and then ballsed up using a stud remover so had to get my dad and uncle to fix it for me, which ended up snapping the remover then heating the old stud up till it glew bright yellow then hammering out the stud remover and in teh end my dad drilled through it with a 7mm drill bit and then used a tap to clean the thread out! Great *happy* but it took half the day and so I couldnt get the engine in today and my dad and uncle are busy for a while now so looks like I may not be taking it on holiday on the 28th :(

However today I got the engine 100% ready to go in the subframe and then in the engine ofc

Got the manifolds off and while my dad was fixing the exhaust housing for me I put the gasket on:

After dad fixed my fuck up I got it all mounted properly:

Fitted my water feed:

Got some more pipes/reducers on:

Induction Setup:

Front of it:

Oil feed fitted:

Added a steady to the sensor bracket as previously advised:

Solid as fuck now

And here it is, ready to go in the car:

Now the waiting begins again *tongue*

Thanks for reading guys!!

That coolant hose looks awfully close to your soon to be stinking hot manifold...

Also, loose the metro compensator from the slave cylinder bracket. It won't do anything on your car.
