I got it through MOT on Monday, I decided to park up the daily driver for a bit and enjoy the Mini, then this. On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

I think since I got the new guides in that they are a bit tight on the exhaust side. It was the first time I really pushed the car since the head rebuild so I think it got up to temp and pinched. I'll order a new valve and rebuild the head, maybe ream the guides a bit more. Piston wise there is a clear mark on the crown and a bit of a bur at the edges of the mark but I don't see anything else wrong. I am assuming the piston is ok to reuse? On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

What valve & guide type ? How much boost ?

Minispares EN21 4N and bronze manganese guides. I've not gone over 15psi, I was barely on 10psi when it happened. On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

So yeah it’s just that one valve that’s tight, I got the bent valve out and found a few spare valves left over after the last fiasco. They measure up fine so tried one of those, definitely tight in the guide even at room temp, whereas the other guides are fine. I’m gonna dress the mark on the piston a bit then put the head together and slap it on. On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

The Mini comes first, really not that much to do, just get the head back on and tidy up the engine bay. I will finally get the suspension dialled in too now the new steer rack is in.
