Where did you get the gauges from? I'd be interested in a boost gauge to match my other Smiths gauges if the cost wasn't too excessive. No one seems to sell boost gauges with a chrome bezel like that.

So Steve has decided to sell up his yellow turbo, which is a shame as it was really close to being finished. I can vouch for the quality and time he's put into it, it looks stunning.

I drove it back on the M25 from Essex to Reading yesterday it flew back, no problems at all. Stopped and checked the oil a couple of times to top it up, but it was minimal.

I turned off early to give it a bit of a boot from Windsor back to Reading and i've not stopped smiling since! It was only on 8psi and it felt quick!

The only slight problem is that the car seems to smoke at idle.... Is this a sticky piston? Occasional it will stall while slowing down as well. Any one any ideas?

Lastly i would like to say thanks to Steve, he's a top bloke with the cleanest garage in Essex i'd imagine!

well congrats on picking up a nice car.

get some pics up as there isnt any of it as it is now *wink*

regarding the smoking, apparently the guys at the rollers said it was on no1 cyl (iirc) but the leak down is showing the compression as fine...

I reckon it could be a valveguide seal.

No problem, yea I will get some pics up asap. Thanks Joe, I will look into this, seems strange it ran fine on the road, but just smokes at idle.

Thanks again Steve!

Very sorry to hear this Steve. You looked to have poured some serious time, love & money into it.

Mark I reckon you have got yourself a cracking motor there. Does the stalling happen when you dip the clutch or just on over-run?

As the mexican says valve guides sounds like the cause of the smoking issue. A quick test would be to jack the front end right up while it is ticking over, if the smoke goes away there is a good chance you have found your problem.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Yea I'm positive this is going to prove to be a great motor!

The stalling happens sometimes when i push the clutch in yes, i've noticed this when i've been at the lights i need to give it a few more revs not to stall.

Yesterday after a good run it was ticking over fine though, it was and still is just the smoke at idle. So next step is to jack it up! Thanks John, Joe.

The stalling sounds like thrusts then to me. See how it goes and if it gets no better within say 300-500 miles you should probably pull the lump to inspect. (maybe sort the smoke out at same time)

Hi All, I need some help identifying this part of the roll cage:

http://www.minisport.com/mini-spare-parts/...AFRBN096HB.html

Does the Harness bar bolt on to the roll cage? Mine looks similar to the top picture just without the belt loops

Cheers, thanks it's off to a rolling road/engineering company tomorrow to find out whether it's the turbo oil seals that have gone or the valve guide seals. I will keep the thread updated on the results!

Hopefully i can get some more miles on it asap!

Just come back from my local rolling road/engineering company, and as expected valve guide seals and a dodgy exhaust down pipe were the cause of the smoking. Should be done by next Saturday. *smiley*

May even have a rolling road session afterwards to run it in a bit and set up the map on MJ properly also to see what bananas I'm looking at, once it's set up properly. *smiley*

So pleased I've got the ball rolling with the motor now, just need to get the Harnesses in now and find some one who can spray my dashboard a nice black, for a cheapish price! Any one recommend any forum users?!

It looks nice on those wheels, glad for the hopfully simple fix to the smoking.

Rick

ps, id love to offer for the dash but being off work and miles away it would be difficult.
