These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

looking good, you have so much space in clubby fronts, and i didn't realise those megajolts were so small, liking it a lot so far and will be great seeing it finished. :)

It looks so much better on. You've done well. Will it allow you to drop the car some more then?

well,

god ive needed this site this week!!!!

got round to filling the car with water only to see it flow out the head through the 11stud hole, so that answer to "do i have to have 11studs"

so everything is done appart form the alt which i couldnt do as the site was down *indifferent*

got the car started last night, first turn of the key, so sweet to hear it for the first time, ran sweet for a few minis....

then started smoking, heres where i have a problem, its not the block.

the turbo was spueing oil into the down pipe, when ive taken the oil drain off the dizzy plug, and let it drain onto the floor, the smoke stops,

so its one of three things!

the oil drain isnt working.

the turbo propper fooked!

or its the pear of them...

the turbo did have loads of play, and when the cars running it has 80-100 psi of oil going through it. cant beleave just how much oil go's through the turbo, over a liter in less than a mini!

so ive ordered a rebuild kit and going to go from there! wish me luck!

Is the oil drain pipe low enough, in that it's always lower than the Turbo ? as it drains under gravity.

well, the drain is about an inch lower than the turbo, but is about 8" away from the turbo so it is at quite a shallow angle,

the fact so much oil is coming out of the turbo suggests to me the turbo is the problem,

Also i didnt realise you oil press was that high Paul, that wont help, turbo's are only meant to see about 60psi max

We'll see what happens after we rebuild the turbo. It's got a shitload of play in-out and side to side.

MJ is fucking brilliant. It started on the first flick of the key!

the turbo itself is a good few inches above the dizzy drain hole, then theres the pipe comming out of the turbo which falls about an nich, then a rubber hose going to the dizzy, im out there tomo taking it off so will try to get some photos of it. at no point does the hose bend up, it just quite a mellow fall.

well the turbos off, got some pic of the oil drain, i think im going to tweek it to make it shorter and try to get a bit more of a slope on it. rebuild kit came today so will be rebuilding that as well, good news is there wasnt any oil in the manifold before the turbo,

well with the help of gary we rebuilt the turbo. there was plenty of play before and was worried the oil could be comming through the oil seel.

with the turbo rebuilt theres alot less play in the turbine.

fitted everything back to the car appart form the oil feed banjoe, which i managed to cross thread into the turbo and fuck both threads!

so im going to see if i can rescue the thread.

:(

If you get a new banjo bolt, I've got a fitting we can use on the turbo.
