the air filter is 'hanging' in the inner arch at the moment! Ideally I'd like to do something like nala56 has done with his - very neat but I've not had the patience to do the fab work yet

Andy, you can keep the sambuka to yourself!

Nic - thanks for the comments however I think the photos make it look better than it is. The more time I spend with it, the more bits I don't like or am unhappy with.

just had a read through your thread, your doing well rob. almost there, its almost looking identical to how my progress is going, mine came off the road in 2010 :/ and intentionally was supposed to be on the road in 2012 but, well that never happened, everytime i set a deadline i miss it! ha. although, having 3 projects isnt helping. my aim is to at least get the engine in the car and running. seeing other peoples projects and seeing how they progress eggs me on to get a flippin move on! good work anyway. look forward to seeing it at mitp *smiley* *happy*

i got nothing but time..

yes, I wasn't sure about chrome vs satin black for the headlight rings so put one of each on to see which I prefer. I'll double check when the grille is fitted but I think I'm going to go for the Chrome look. Its an easy enough change later.

the original idea had been to de-chrome - something that I hadn't seen before but it has taken me so long to build the flippin thing, quite a few cars have arrived on the scene with similar ideas and stolen my thunder!

I wish this only came off the road in 2010! the wife is already telling me if I'm going to build a car for our daughters first car, I'd better get on with it if I stand a chance of finishing it in time! Now to put that in context, I've got just over 15 years for that build. This current build is standing at 14years...............

a little update;

new face

and off to the painter for some rectification work over the weekend

what a pain that was; got about 300 yards and one of the wheels locked up on the trailer. Now got a bloody great flat spot on one of the new tyres and I'm no wiser as to why it happened.

I intend to do the same thing, love his install of the airfilter. Not being flip front though my pipe will be running through the inner arch then back i think.

well I got the car back from the painter last night. A few issues, particularly with the bonnet which will need painting again, however, there are quite a few 'blemishes' which is guiding me down getting the whole car painted again, particularly when I compare it to some of the others on here.

anyway, another pic - I'm sure you will see no difference! just need to get all the little bits and pieces sorted for the weekend. Still haven't decided what i'm doing with the carpet yet

Heading up to the shed tonight to start building bits back up; the fuel tank is going to have to come back out to bolt on the arch for a start.

Rob, you will see every little blemish that others would never look twice at. Even some big scuffs tend never to really detract from the car as a whole. I was the same. It's ony recently I came to the realisation that even though I see what are faults with it, in reality its always going to be better than %90 of Minis currently drivable.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you want to be like the concourse guys who spend 4k on paint, polish the car within a gnats dick of its life and then never drive the thing anywhere.

as for the carpets, it won't matter, I ran out of carpet for mine, but it was at the Passion For Power show in april. No one siad anything wrong about the car.

if its shiney and has not rot, it'll be right *wink*
