Why is it a waste? Have you seen half the modded pickups?
Personally its compleatly different, somone pushing the boundrys that no one seems to have done. Knowing arron it will be used on the road not just locked up and trailored everywhere i just hope 15" wheels dont get put on and kept on 10-13" mini wheels

Yep it's all a matter of personal taste. I feel same as wolfie but it's not my car.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

it wasn't the best pickup in the world and would have needed alot of work anyway. Nothing is ruined and all work can be reversed. After all if we never modified our cars the mini scene would never be as interesting as it is. Most of us with turbo's have but bulkheads which i know some of the hard core mini fans deem that ruins a car. I personaly like the unusual projects even if its not my thing it shows there are people out there thinking for themselves not just following the trends.

What he said ^

end of the day there are plenty of people who restore and keep these cars original - its not as if there will never be an original example. I like this *happy*

Its doing better than your build and i have done nothing to it in months *wink*

Thing is to many pickups have been ruined by builders, farmers, grass track racers ect, over the years there have been a few pick ups with bike engines and earlier rover v8's so no i dont see this as pushing the boundries, i personally dont see the point in ruining another but then i hate shitty vauxhalls and am not a fan of engine swaps unless they look factory so i am bias anyway.

As me and arron always say, its just a bit of metal shaped like a mini... its also arrons piece of metal shaped like a mini, so we will carry on doing what the fk we want tbh, lol.

not a huge amount of progress, just bought an OMEX 710 so kinda drained arrons budget for the time being. Got a rear hoop, rear legs and the subframe top mounts done though, and plates on the floor for the cage etc.

floor plate

another hole cut in the original pickup... *wink*

rear with top mounts, as its sitting at the moment really

from the back

getting there

will prob get some front legs welded in this weekend, floor bar, bar to the rear spaceframe and some triangulation down to the heelboard from the subframe mounts. All depends on time and materials really, busy times.

Cheers,

Al

- edit, its going on 13's so dont worry, not 15s! lol. 10's would keep the looks, but for high speed handling they are a waste of time.

Im tutoring arron yes, LOL! hes getting there, trying to get to the stage where I just do the welding and a bit of direction really as I've got my own car that needs to be ready for next years sprint season. Hes getting alot better though! Just looking forward to it being a running car so we can catch the end of the summer with it and then build a V6 with more exciting internals... *wink*

no point mark, if some people took 1 second away from their own ignorance to look into the vauxhall tuning community they might learn a thing or two...

tbh i fully understand what Neil's saying,i get it.
i would have loved to restore it back to a nice original spec, but then i wouldnt have wanted to use it let alone turbo it,
thus making it a pointless investment of time and money just to one day in five years time sell it for £10,000

so what would have been the point? i dont belive there would have been one?

ive always wanted a quick mid engine car, so why not have that in a pickup,
and the engine choice just ended up being Vauxhall by Al forcing me....lol

the real trick was that i wasnt meant to have it out in the open for a while, or atleast a show, dyno day etc, as i plan to have t looking very simaler to howit used to many wouldnt have known and were in for a shock....:)

I worked there (MSD) doing the conversions.

All we did to the engine on the MKI GSi was swop 2 of the cams from the 3ltr in line unit, on the MKII GSi we swoped all four

The MKI had 192 nanas and the MKII had 198 nanas

The only other mod we did was fit a K+ N Filter and a back box thats it with regards to the engine.

The reason I asked was to say if it was the SRi V6 its easy to up grade to just short of the 200 mark.

We did a special for a Mr D. Warwick which had a 3 ltr bottom end with worked heads and cams that gave 278nanas. That one went well

awesome, thanks for the info, tbh im hoping the GTR turbo's are going to up the power a bit,
any ideas on 'better' cams for turbo?
or anyway to lower comp ratio?
other than de-comp plates?

been thinking about sorting the manifolds......
bare with me as in my head it makes sense.............

here's one of the flanges I had cut, mild as £££ was tight but il have them in stainless at some point, just cant at the min..

here's one with a few measurements bit shonky, but they work lol

now what I was thinkinhg is if I can get one with the right,or near right size, then why couldnt I re flange it?
I'm just using this as an example,

I know some may think it would just be better to make a manifold from scratch but its just not viable at the min, as I said its just thoughts at the moment,
