you can never have too many tools, hope to get to some events and finally see this car run...

Speeding is like masturbating, everyone does it, but not all of us film it and put it on the internet

Today started oh so well, as the Engine was not fighting me at all, even the oil return went in first time! Then I got to fitting in the drive shafts, they went in nice, then the hubs next and this is where it all went downhill! as you can see in the pics there is not enough room for the banding that holds the boot on!

So I got on the phone to Mini Sport to ask if I have done anything wrong. The bloke on the phone started with, "you must be doing it wrong"! After I told him that I have used the correct tool to fit the banding, he said "just fit them at the edge of the cv joint" WTF!! He said "we have sold loads of them, so it must be YOU". I asked him if he could measure the cv they sell in their kit so I could check mine, but it looks like he forgot! 10/10 for shit after care..

This is how far I got today in the end..

Well that's a load of bull. I steer clear of minisport, too many horror stories of shit parts. You'd think something like this would be fit for purpose though. If you can get cable ties on normal hubs these should accept a steel band with room to spare.
Maybe the recess in the cv for the band can be made slightly deeper?

As a workaround you could use a stainless zip tie? They sit quite flush.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

lockwire isnt a bodge, wrap it around twice and fold the off cut over and push it down flush i never use straps zip ties or any other thing on boots now as they just never seem as secure as lockwire

Thanks bill but its still covered in mud from MITP 2011 *surprised*

Well I was having a chat with pual W last night, he was saying that his are on with Lock wire. So I have ordered some 1.00mm wire so that should do the job.

Today we just swapped over all the rollcage bolts so not alot to show.

I'm quite good friends with Tom at SPORT, could always send him the picture and see what they say.
may not be just you that is having the problem as i had to get a set of drop gear altered by them to fit and all the ones on the shelf needed machining.

What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve
MITP 2012 17.01 seconds 1/4 mile against "The Don"
MITP 2013 16.83 seconds 1/4 mile

Well mine was run in on the oil I planned to run it on (valvoline vr1) , perfect compression and no smoke. That said I went pretty hard on it!
