On a side note, the primary gear bush on mine had clearly got hot when I took it off to revert back to the helical gears

Yes, Joe had the rings made. This was the last one he had.

I'm going to try and rescue the bush, if that isn't an option I'll fitting the floating bush.

I am going to build an RTS and seem to be surrounded by Valeos....

The ring is 4mm thick, 104mm I.D. & 145mm O.D. I made the spacers the thickness of the two wire rings and the two springs +/- 0.05mm. Used a 2mm and a 2.2mm spring. The pedal feels like it's somewhere between a grey and an orange pre verto, so not too heavy. I'm hoping it will ease slightly as they rub against each other.

Based on my experience of building it, I would drill the heads of the friction plate side of the spring assembly and drift them out. Took me ages to get all the way through from the top as the slightest heat in the rivet made it quite hard to drill.

right then what should the thrust and running clearances be on a gear with witch has the floating bush? its the MED straight cut 1:1 roller set floating bush on the primary on a SCCR club man gear set 2.95FD

Done now needs redoing lol

001 - Car took too long to build. (added at my request).

002 - LSD fitted - so VOSA know why it had the manual brake test rather than the rollers.

Not exactly on the road yet as one of the gear selector bobbins snapped on the way to the test centre. Leaving me only 1st, 2nd and reverse.

Took two goes at the emissions test, otherwise straight through.

To say it was thrown together by a ham fisted clown, it actually drives quite well. Thinking it's going to be fun.

He said the LSD would snap his brake rollers. Just meant taking him for a spin with a gauge and doing some emergency stops. No great shakes.
