Great work on the paint! What grade did you use?

Cheers, i think it was only 1300... not the finest but i only lightly done it as i werent quite sure how thick the paint was and didnt want to rub through

so with all the rain expected me and a few mates still weren't put off for the 3 hour trip to brooklands, was a really awesome day despite the rain, was an awesome turn out.. LOADS to see and the hill was a good experience!

heres mine and my friends parked on the bank.. unbelievably steep and the thought of cars flying round there 100 years ago is scary!

a pic from on top of the hill... doesn't look too bad from pictures but when we got there it was a bit oooo ummmm tis rather steep aint it

So just got back from the 'east coast mini clubs easter charity run' bury st edmunds to southwold through some really cool roads and a few fords! (The water type ford, not the car!) Im sure there was a thread about this last year? But i cant find one? I was going to put a little bit about it on there but i must of been thinking of another thread? Anyways.... it was that AWESOME that i didnt have anytime for pictures?! Its a really good run and there must of been 150-200 minis? All for charity.. for you that are interested they said theres loads of pictures on their facebook...

so.. went to retro kings at snetterton this morning.. after a lovely day yesterday it was rain rain rain TYPICAL! but it was all brought and paid for so we all trundled off for snetterton and it was a real good turn out despite the weather! loads of time attack series cars too

so we cheekily emptied our cars into the rest of the clubs minis



then trundled down to noise test... to which the guy asked ''is it on?''



after a quick briefing it was all down to the assembly area.. im at the front behind a time attack M3 followed by my 2 mates minis.... also can see slater in his metro



stayed out in that order for longer than I was expecting! haha

there were these.. a jet biddy scooter and go kart



and ive always wanted one of these as a daily but never allowed by the mrs.. cos apparently there too big and ugly... tried my best to win her round by showing her THIS

After the track session sunday ive realised that after a good spanking the oil can creep up to high temps of 110+... this resulting in a lower oil pressure at idle.. how much will fitting an oil cooler help? A little or lots?

Also still trying to get the weight down.. being eyeing up different batterys including what i think is the lithium one that was tested on here a while back and even tho i know a few of you are using them ive heard they can be very dangerous if they get hot, the last thing i want is to put a potentially dangerous battery in the car with me that could burn it to the ground if the worst happened?

Get a thermostatic valve in the oil cooler circuit. No point making the oil too cold for 90% of the time.

As far as the batteries go id just keep it behind a firewall. Treat it like the fuel tank. The cars full of fuel which will also burn it to the ground if it catches fire.

Im more than happy with mine so far.

As for the oil fit a small cooler first and see if it cures it, my guess is it will. A thermostat is really a god idea on road car too.

If so you wanna check out his vid from snetterton.. its got me and then my friend laurie in front, first 2 laps are safety car laps... but u get the idea and you can hear his banging when changing gear and on over run..

From what i remember- Standard n/a rebuilt 998 bottom end and gearbox, uprated cam, straightcut drops and stage 3 janspeed head? Running megajolt.. yeah rev limiter on megajolt, and he has button on gearstick AND underneath the clutch pedal... is his first engine and box build too!

Yeah.. i believe he runs a second map with a lower limiter / hard cut as a kind of launch control and as a party piece with the pops n bangs.. which is why he has switch under clutch to cut it momentarily to create the bang

So me and a couple friends trundled over to pod on Saturday for the retro show, when we first got there it did rain for a hour or so and it pretty much ended the track time for the day but I did see madmk1 simon run a 14.1



there was plenty of cool retro stuff to look at on camp Saturday evening and it stayed light til crazy late



woke up sunday morning to more than double the amount of cars and sun!! so quickly drove over to sign on and parked up behind shaunas mini..



ran 5 times on the sunday and despite a slippery track I managed to beat my last years time of 15.3 down to a new personal best of 14.7 not bad for a 50ish kg diet I thought!?

Yaaaaay I'm in your photo! I'm definitely doing it next year, so nice to be lined up not knowing what anyone's got hiding under their bonnet. Well done man, we had terrible runs and just couldn't get any sort of grip. Really nice to meet you, your lady friend and your super smily friend haha!
