Please don't throw another cam into the equation. I'm not the biggest fan of 266. I found it very flat. It lost bottom end torque and couldnt pull 2.76FD below 2300 rpm
That's a big consideration for this build. The car isn't light, plus the turbo etc adds another 15kg. I've just found a Eco input gear, so will equal to 2.8FD

The cam must be able to pull the car below 2k at WOT, without boost. Fuel injection should help here though. SW5 will do this, but not really enough duration, and doesn't really let the 7 port head do its thing.

274 it is.

Quieter?

Just been out. It is a fair bit quiter, Also seems faster for some reason.

Been toying over single or individual bodies. After speaking to several top tuners, I came to the conclusion ITB's will be fine and if mapped correctly, will be more responsive. I just need to tap each port after the throttle on all 4, then fabricate a damper reservoir, for map signal, fuel pressure regulator, dump valve and boost gauge.

Good, good but sound like a PITA. Shame SC don't make a plenum that uses a single TB.

In all fairness, it's not such a big job, and using TPS, with map correction will always give better results. It's something a would do if going turbo or not.

Just finished building my new gearbox including all new genuine bearing throughout , new Layshaft, new baulk rings, new input & idler bearings

Spec is

A+ large idler bearing case thoughly cleaned for 3 weeks
Double grove wide ratio HLE Gearset
2.95 Final drive
Economy 28 tooth input gear
Quaife ATB LSD
Central oil pickup
7/15 speedo drive, should show 7% over actual.

70mph should be around 3400rpm, so should cruise nicely on the motorway, and pull off shouldn't be too bad with shorter HLE first gear.

Just need to make sure engine as enough low down torque and low revs boost to make it work. camshaft??? (Still not sure)

988's can pull a 2.95 off the line so am sure you will have no issues.

Good point, 1380cc will make a big difference. Still concerned the MD274, will move the power band too high, losing power between 1.5-2.5k & pushing the rev range past the T2's efficiency window. I've read the MD274 doesnt come on cam untill 2500rpm

Fuck knows John, Robert suggest MD246, which makes a lot a sense, but I already have the 274, SW5 & MG cams.

I know what you are saying.

I think that the MG will produce the goods with 1.3 rockers.

Manage to install vacuum/boost take offs after each throttle body. Should be able to
Plug MAP Sensor in tomorrow and give it a test.

I've just ordered one of these from the States. Especially designed for ITB turbo applications. It will also balance each port, give stable readings and potentially allow me to run a external
ICV if need be.

Got the 3bar Map sensor fitted this morning and got the car running successfully. Signal without a damper reservoir is a little irratic. Fitting a temporary fuel filter in line seems to help though.

Obviously the fuel map looks completely different and will need mapping again. Hopefully should be able to get to my local dyno and get a base map done on the rollers, then fine tune on the road with closed loop.

Then engine out and new in.
