You are doing an exelente job there, you were tell us in the begining of this first part of the build, you'll let the engine std, but i think you will mess in it sooner or latter :)

Will you let those beautifull camshaft pulleys inside?

You need one of those quick shifters if you could afford ofk.

Thanks, engine internals are standard.. For now but the itb's ecu etc add a bit more punch.

Those gear shifters are awesome!

Looking good. To be critical I think I would have cut and shut the thermostat housing rather than use the snakey hose.

Cheers wil, yeah with hindsight i would do the same, i bought the hose set thats used on the Gsi as im using the corsa rad and knew it would all fit.. but i agree a small 90 deg would have been better.

update from the last few days as i had a few hours i could spend on the mini! :)

firstly after looking at a load of different exhaust pipes on the net i decided i might as well have a go a making mine fit first.

Basically all i did was cut slits in the pipes where i wanted to tuck it closer to the floor of the car, then manipulate it leaving areas where i needed to add another angle in, while still on the car i tacked on some off cuts to keep it all in place with the new bends etc so i could make it off the car.

the result was another 1.5" - 2" of ground clearance - result :)





Also the front end if far too low - i will raise the hight soon that should free up a bit more space.

I then carried on with a bit more wiring and some of the fiddley jobs, throttle cable, pedal box connection to the masters etc.

Got to the stage where i needed to decide where i wanted the gauges and switch gear so i made the dash. Im really happy with how it turned out.





So the job for tomorrow is to finish the wiring and give it some fluids.. could be time for the first start up!

Massive step forward in this project - the wiring is in and the engine runs! :)

Not really been able to keep it on for any length of time as im still waiting on some parts for the coolant system.

Still have a long list of jobs to do - mostly tidying bits up, but i still need to bleed the brakes and clutch, get the rad in and finish the rear car section of the wiring loom.

I will get some pics and a clip of it running up over the weekend.

Look forward to it. Making good progress Mark.

Any videos of it running? I bet the I induction noise sounds pretty awesome

Thanks, I thought the sound was a bit disappointing on the vid - shot it on my lumix digital camera lol. Sounds great in person tho!

Brake and clutch bleeding is next on the list.
Then it needs a big tidy up, new carpets to go in etc.

Well some bad news, the clutch is making a horrible noise when in neutral.. Engine back out this weekend, think the clutch is either they wrong type or it might not be aligned correctly. Release bearing was new so don't think it's that..

Gutted, hate going backwards like this!

When you say in neutral do you mean with the clutch disengaged (temporary neutral) or just out of gear,
I would've thought the clutch would line up when the box input shaft is pushed through the friction plate/flywheel
If that makes sense?
Where did the box come from?

Sorry yes, clutch disengaged.. That does suggest release bearing.. Just can't see it as it's new.

The box looked good before it was bolted up,until I have a look I can't really be sure of the issue.. Just pissed off that it has to come back out!
