So we'll see you bombing up the track at Avon this year then?

I seriously doubt it!

It's the oil warning light I think, but the gauge reads fine, so I'm not too fussed.

Not bothering with Avon, but I will try and be at MITP

Failed on:

Boot Floor - caused 4 fails - both harness mounting points and both side subframe mounts being close to the 'cut away area - which has been replaced by riveted aluminum.'

Parking Brake - Caused 2 faults, essentially my handbrake needs to be better (9% recorded, 25% required) - offside being the worst side but both sides are (way) below limit.

[Headlights] - Aim (they said they'd do this at the re-test)

Not too bad - but I am not sure what to do really. I'll post a couple of new threads about the two major things shortly.

The mot man has to test it as he sees it, and he's not allowed to dig. So if you can disguise the joint underneath and the rivets he can't do or say anything. I had a chavalier with grot in the rear arches which were close to the rear seatbelt mounts and a nice mot man said fill em up and paint them and there's nothing they can do.

Might work??

OK, just looked at the previous fail, and he only advised about the boot floor. I guess I chose the wrong MOT tester tota ke it back to!

Anywho, I've orderd some new brake parts and updated my to-do list adding a few things, and hopefully I'll get it back to another tester shortly.

Ha ha. Indeed! I can't believe that it's taken 4 years to get as far as I have. It's not even like the car is a corker!

I would replace the aluminum with steel the same shape. Stitch weld it in and seamseal it then paint it.

I seriously doubt it!

So, I took apart the rear drims today, and fitted two new cables. The shoes look OK, the pistons look OK, and obv the cables are now OK. The quadrants are free and not binding (so I didn't fit my new ones) and the adjusters are free to turn.

And still, my hand brake is rubbish.

We had this on the missus' car - changed little handbrake lever things:

http://www.minisport.com/mini-spare-parts/info_SMN10005.html

And now the handbrake holds solid on 2 or 3 clicks. Seems they stretch quite badly over time.

Thanks mate - really appreciate it.

Anyway, last two jobs are now on the first post, and the MOT :)
