Ahh I'm good thanks mate, my dad owns a Auto Factors so I get all my panels, paints, discs and other stuff through him.

Thank's anyway thou matey!

My plan is to play find most the rot, then fix it all once I've found all of it. New subframe time soon I think.

Haha, the bodywork on mine has been like that but I thought recently I'll bite the bullet and go for it...

Just popped in for some dinner, then it's off to take the offside wing off, and the rest of the front panel!

Haha, tell me about it. I think the subframe and engine are comming back out to make it simpler to cut the inner wings down etc, then just going to drop the subframe back in when fitting the new front end.

Just a quick question, how much meat have people left between the shock mount and the end of the inner wing when cutting the inner wings back?

I managed to sort my front end (inner wings) with everything still in place.

With regards position for cutting back ineer wings, I'm not sure on the construction of around-v-clubman front, but I had a natural line to follow when cutting the inner wing just in front of the bulkhead.

Nah, it'll be a removable steel front end. Hopefully be very subtle too

Hey! There's nothing wrong with plastic front ends! Apart from the wonky fit.
Stress cracks.
Need for gussets to maintain strength.
Distortion under the heat of paint curing.
Breaking of gel coat where it was poorly made and the matting didn't reach it beneath.

Great material all round, ahem. Actually I'm pleased with mine but need to see how it "behaves" when I actually start running/ hitting speedbumps/ pot holes with it.

Inner wing's are cut down, left about an 2" from the triangular pieces. Next job is to swap the A panels, then take the screen out and swap the scuttle.

Subframe will be comming out after with the engine, then putting just the subby back in so I can work on the inner wing edges to make them look a little more finished.

Just thought I'd grab some pictures after a succesfull day on the mini in the sweaaaltering heat

Dropped the cage in Monday to get it out the way (an to stop the scrap theif comming and grabbing it! (You can see up the side of my house, and there's a scrap man who looms about nicking it to weigh it in)

Whipped the scuttle off the other day, ordered my panels friday so there all waiting for me to fit them. Got some wrork to do first before I fit them.

Anybody think it'll work?! *tongue*

Dropped the engine and subframe out to save damaging it and to make it easier to weld around the bulkhead.

Started tidying up the flitch panel and inner wing, going to get rid of the black wax shit and have them stonechip and colour instead.

Next job after tidying up the flitch and innerwings is continuing the innerwing top edge down the inner wing with some angle and flexy angle on the corner. Should look alot better then just cut off I'm hoping.

Then fitting the new A Panels, scuttle and scuttle closing caps then I can set about lining up my front end!

Cleaned the nearside back to primer the other day and it's looking preety damn good to be honest, just one hole near the top which is tiny so I can mig that up easy enough. Offside was a state thou so I decided to fit a new flitch panel....

Not too much of a bad job, Although where the inner wing (I think that's what it'd be?) goes up into the pillar is rotten and there's not a cat in hells chance I'm disturbing the pillar/the door gap so it'll have to stay like that. You won't see it by the time the scuttle/closer is on. Bit of a bodge but I'm happy to live with it. It shouldn't get any worse once it's had some rust treatment on it then all wax oiled and seam sealed.

Tomorows jobs are to patch up the fresh air vent and the vent to the heater, then I can think about getting it back into primer, then fitting my scuttle. *happy*

Blocked the air vents in the inner wing's yesterday and made a start at fitting the scuttle, then finished the scuttle today and made a start on the A Panels

(gap at the top an bottom are tight as there not welded in place yet, will be the same as the middle)

Just needs seam sealing up then I can prime it all and get some colour in there. Need to get the engine out the subframe then that can go back in, and we'll be set for lining up the front end!

Looks like somebody has welded up the bottom bolt on the top hinge for your passenger door....

Yeah I noticed that too the other day. It's got to come off anyway for me to repair the door bottom and the door skin (rot) so I'll pop in a new bolt then.

Just been an smothered the drivers side in seam sealer all pover the welds and joints. It might not be the proettiest but I want it to last. The wings and front panel on it now only lasted 2 years due to a shoddy job last time at a garage.

One sides ready for stone chip and topcoat, the other just needs to be seam sealed around the vent, then primed then it can have the same treatment.

She's back on all 4's chaps :d

Looking better already

Welded a trailer plug mount onto the bracebar for my light socket

Engines new home for a while (anybody else thinking the same? *tongue*)

Tomorow it's looking at linning the front end up, once thats lined up I can get welding the tabs on for mounting the front end. Then all the innerwings and A Panels can be stoneshipped and painted. It's getting there...

I never liked innerwings cut off and just left, so I decided to carry the top lip down the front of the wing. Looks alright suppose, just couldn't think of anything else to do with them thou!

Woah, seriously - those non gen wings are rubbish! Once you've ground back and painted I'm sure it'll look fine, but it must take so much fannying about I'm sure it would've crossed your mind to have bought genuine?

Top effort though!
