Well i've just ordered the inner wings, so i can finally get the all of the body prep/rust repair basically done!!
i think i might spend one evening in the workshop getting the old wings/sills off so as that i can crack on at the weekend as i've only got saturday to work on it.

Then i just need to sheet metal (easy) and a sheet metal folder (not so easy) so i can make my miglia box up before properly fitting the scuttle panel.

It might actually look like i'm getting somewhere then!!! (about time!)

I am going to break out some white stone chip on the inside before the cage goes in. then just clean up the bits where i need to weld.

I don't fancy trying to spray a cage once its in, especially not for my first time spraying!!!!

Abit of a pointless post but i quite exited! they're only inner wings!!! Haha.

Cheers.

Putting them on more lineing them up.

I was thinking bolt a sub frame into it and use that to line it up with ie the suspension components.

well alot of money later i have two inner wings in my possesion.

i think i might head down to Riv Run on the sunday instead of tomorrow as its the show and shine, so abit more going on....

that means i can spend tomorrow getting the old inner wings off and trial fitting the new ones.

thats after sorting a little bit of rust in the boot floor and stonechipping the underneath of the bootfloor.

wont be long untill the inside is all one colour and it might actually looks half reasonable for the first time in 17 months!

viewing some recent threads it makes me realise that my shell wasn't really as bad as it felt at the time.

James, how can there be any rust on the boot floor of your car? its missing!

Edit: I've missed an update, I see you have now added a new boot floor.

Keep up Minimole! there is a boot floor in there now! Honestly! hardly the fastest paced rebuild! haha.

L/H corner near the rear most subframe mounting. just abit rusted around there which became evident when i tried to weld it.

just got to cut that little bit out and then weld a small patch in and the shell is done with all the patches! as long as i done find anything when the oversills come off.

Just a quick thought.... im going to be using a beam (sort of) but it will mean that im not going to be using the rear most mounts for the original subframe. Is there anything else that bolts there that is super important that its there or can i loose that weight aswell?

Im thinking i can loose them but i just want to double check that nothing else mounts there. Fuel cell is going to be used so no tank strap to worry about.

ahhhhhhhhhh!!! you bought (there you go V is that better?) those off me!!

forgot about those!! some serious tracking issues on those tyres ey!! hahaha believe it or not i think they had done about 1500 miles!!! hahaha

Anyways, managed to get the L/H inner wing on today. What a bitch it was to get the old one off!

Not looking forwards to doing the other side as ive bodged the shit out of that with a repair panel....what was i thinking!

Also got all of the patches done, dressed some welds, seam sealed, stone chipped. So quite productive!

Sam, i used the bolts/holes for the shock mounts to help line up the panel here are some pics:

panel fit not perfect but nothing abit of fettling with the freindly clamps and hammer cant sort.

i have to shell braced to shit as you can see from the earlier pics. Ive got the A and B pillars braced. the window frame braced, with bars going from the bulk head up to those bars to bracking the bulkhead also. Then i have one going from the bulkhead to the floor.

That meant that nothing could move when i took the old wings off. then i used the bolt holes like i sad to make sure that they were in the right posistions before clamping up the other best fitting areas and then fettling the rest to fit right.

Then it was all welded in place.

anything else you want to know about the process mate drop me a PM. i'll do my best to answer.
