What is the I/C 4 or 2WD cos
and what diff are you using because i`ve a 3.1 in the car and i was going to fit a 2.75 F/D for 10in when i go turbo ?

Nic, it feels good to be back...i dont know how people can enjoy driving around in a standard 998 it really did my skull in.

jimmy its a 2wd one at the minute, will up it to 4wd if i get my hands on one but its not a priority at the minute. Keans just swapped his 2wd for a 4wd and his is pretty much the same layout as mine. I'm running a 3.1 FD now, was a 3.44 when i first built it in the last car but it did my nut on the motorways.

nope still no idea wil, seems to boost a lot lower than my T3 which is a good sign but the actuator only gives 5psi.

That engine bay looks ace, you really have done well. alot of work there in little time. Did the metro rad fit in there under the intercooler?

I've been waiting for ages for the day to come when i would finally be able to restart this build thread, and today is the day

Had a bit of a gearbox explosion back in Dec '07 2 weeks after being made redundant, so retired the mini from daily service and used my redundancy money to buy a daily hack. Now i'm finally in a position to be able to start spending on the mini again so it's full steam ahead.

got myself a new SC box yesterday without a diff fitted, agreed to buy an ATB from a chap on another forum so should be picking that up next weekend and running that with a 3.44.

Picked up an ebay bargain the other week, brand new GT series turbo that wil_h recommended me to go for ages ago (cheers for for the advice mate) which will be mounted on my metro manifold. Laser cutting company round the corner from work are also making me a turbine flange and a couple of steel gaskets so i can set about making a new elbow. Was going to go for 2.5" piping but seeing as i still have the gear linkage under the car i'll have to stick with 2" for now unless anyone knows if a 2.5" will still fit?

My engine had been sat in the corner of the garage since 07 so me and kean dragged it onto the bench in the week to pop the bearing caps off to have a look at the shells and they all look perfect which was a nice surprise. Also means i didn't have to remove the crank so haven't had to re-do the cam timing or remove the head (no worries about it possibly being one the current dodgy gaskets thankfully!).


got a nice little list now though of all the major things i need to sort out over the next couple of weeks.

Make oil drain
make turbo elbow
mod oil feed pipe
make a subby for the bucket seat
get an MOT
get a set of S brakes
few little bits to tart up the outside of the car (paint wheels, nitromors grille)

Plan is to have it up and running with time to iron out any bugs before the RR/Avon day in October and get it up the 1/4 to give me a starting point before i start lightening it over winter ready for next season.

Unless I'm being special it doesn't look like a GT17.
I'm planning on using the metro fanimold with a GT series turbo on mine.

That turbo is a GT2056 if I'm not mistaken.

Yep, it's a GT2056. fingers crossed it goes as well as it looks on paper.

Oh gt20, does that bolt directly to the metro manifold.

nah won't bolt up without an adapter plate, same flange as a T2/25 for the manifold but it has its own turbine flange.

You said flange, numerous times

oil drain is made.
oil feed is sorted.
manifold and adpater plate have been ground down to provide clearence for the silicon hose on the compressor outlet pipe.
wastegate tag has been cut and rewelded
LSD is fitted
timing chain replaced
engine bay and subby degreased

Just waiting on my flange from the laser cutters now.
