Both....lol

it seems as if the original head was designed for a practically non existant 10mm 1" reach plug,

Pete Vickers bored the plugs deeper on Paul Wiltshires head, but that was an original AKM casting, theres notelling what minisport have done to the casting now they have got their grubby little mitts on it...

now i've done this i can use 3/4" reach plugs from basically any jap crotch rocket.

Good Lad. Glad you've sorted the plug situation.

A friend of mine is just about to purchase one of these heads. So it'll be interesting to see if MiniSpit have done anything (at source) about the plug hole issue.

I’ll post some pics when he gets it.

Keep up the good work.

I drill holes in everything..!

LOL,

Well if anyone needs a couterbore for 10mm plugs give me a shout...

Went out and measured the chambers yesterday, with the new plug position they come out bang on 24cc.... which is what Stuart Gur said thay were, I'm guessing Stuart used a bit of M10 stud or a tap to fill the hole wnd put it in to where the plug "should" be, ie where it is now...

Anyway, just building up the roller rocke assy so ican torque the head down.

Hadn't seen that Vegard,

looks a good install, not keen on the body kit though!

stuck the text through bablefish but it didn't make a lot of sense, can you translate please Vegard?

No probs Dars, happy to help, I actually couterbored them by hand, the tip of the bore was fairly snug so aligned the drill pretty well, If i were to do it again i would do it in a mill/pillar drill as it would be kinder to the plug threads.

I made the counterbore by taking a couterbore (i think it was an M12) and grinding the spigot on the end down to .350", where the spigot meets the cutter I under cut this with a small grindstone in a dremmel.
I then measured the cutter and spark plug diameters, the plug is .600" and the cutter was .700" as the cutters are directly opposite each other I ground them down one at a time by .050".

All very crude, but it worked.

if I was doing it again I think the spigot is soft enough to be turned in a lathe to give better accuracy, also it could be turned smaller to fit in an M10x1 threaded bush to protect the plug threads and align better.
I would also make up a m10x1 bolt with one of those circular spirit level things on to enable the head to be set up on a mill bed.

How is you project coming along Dars? I thought somone posted that it had been running? do you have any feedback?

OH! NEARLY FORGOT! i would recomend only counter boring the plugs in about 4mm, and then see if you need anymore, I cocked bu measurements up and went straight to 5mm, and they could have done with a tad less.

Mini13: it does not say much about the car, exept it is a -77 with a Metro Turbo engine, Autronic SM2, IC and 7 porter :) The car is not finnished yet..

A realy smart solution. I think I realy need to do this. I have had a few problems with the plugs.

The car has been a runner for almost a year. But from the start and until now I have had problems with the injectoin system. I couldn't get the car to run over 6000rpm. I haven't had much time to fidle with it, but it is hopfully solved now. I will take a test drive to day or to morrow.

In the winther I would maybe do something with the plug holes and maybe do some modifications to the plenum.

Thanks Vegar,

Hope you get the issues sorted Dars.

I have been making up the oil feed and return, the oil return is made using some oil cooler fittings, I was hoping to get away with an old oil cooler pipe, but it needs to be a bit shorter with 90 deg one end and maybe a 45 deg the other.

the oil feed is just a -4 pipe, but it comes out of the turbo right next to the oil drain *oh well* so i am running it the otherside of the engine away from the turbine housing.

This is a great post.

Is that a VNT22 or 25?
It'll be cool to see someone get one of these on here and working. I recall BlownImp had one too.

I think he got miffed with the 'maga7ine' slander and hasn't posted since however?

I thought i hadn't heard from blownimp for a while, shame, his project was really interesting.

Dave its a GT25v from an Espace/velsatis DCI, i've gone for the biggest, to see if it'll spool at a decent rpm, I dunno what the compressor map is like but i suspect its ok but not ideal, i'll have temp sensors before and after so will check the efficiency, providing it dosen't surge its ass off,

If its shit i can always put a GT17 on

I guess the spooling is the important bit! LOL

Have you had it apart to size up the turbine and compressor sizes?

It'll certainly be interesting that's for sure. :)
