Didn't they use a pink primer in the 80's /early 90's minis?

I think you could save alot of weight by loosing the washing machine out of the the door card, nice unique mod though.

Right Guys - I had problems painting over the greeny yellow top layer of paint as its some sort of enamel based paint - everthing jsut cracks and separates even if you rubbed it right back with 240wet and dry

So I decided to take the shell back to bare metal - Easier said than done!!

This picture shows the shell partly stripped - all metal was rubbed back a with a sanding attachment at 80-grit. However I found it easier to remove the top layer with a wire brush attachment for my angle grinder. This was because when i used my sanding attachment it would clog up as this layer of paint would melt and stick in the paper!

For all the nooks and crannies I used tonnes of nitromores - must have spent a good 40quid on it now!!

Anywho - once I was back to bare metal I blew a layer of etch primer on

MY head was spinning when I came in from the garage I can tell you!!

The roof has also had to have some filler primer blown onto it as it seems to have lots of small imperfections.

I have just got to decide on a basic non metalic celly colour to spray it - maybe a light blue?

Will keep you posted.

Dan

Looks good Dan!

Maybe Surf Blue? Or Pageant Blue? Or if you want to go a bit deeper, Tahiti Blue (70's one, non-metallic) looks good.

Yes, from Mk1 cars (and maybe some Mk2's but I am not sure?)

Yea I'm back in Coventry - however I dont have a weekend job at the moment - so i'll do a bit of traveling over the next few weeks. So fingers crossed more progress will be made :)

The colour surf blue is fantastic - im going to go down my paint suppliers when I get back and try to get some.

Now I just need someone to lend me a decent compressor for some Avon Park beer tokens.

I believe there is a branch of "HEX HOLDINGS" in Coventry, I used to use their branch in Loughborough, very helpful and a good range of high quality stuff at reasonable prices.........

You can borrow my compressor if you come and fetch it, although I won't be able to do without it for ages so will need it back within say a couple of weeks?
