Hi all, I'm new to the forum. I know this is a well-trodden conversation from the quick search I have done but time moves on and so I'll see what answers I get.

There's no magic answer as far as I am aware.

If you don’t want to cut the bulkhead, it’s a fusion kit or make your own.

I've made my own successfully a few times using thick gauge stainless tube. This can be really cheap and work as long as you're handy with a mig welder.

Thanks all for the responses. Not sure I feel confident enough to weld my own. Looks like there is good feedback on fusion though, so becoming the favoured option. Cheers, Scott. |

Yep T2 on a 998. That’s a comment to leave me hanging? |

Quite a large, outdated turbo for a small engine! You'll probably be getting full boost at 4.5k or higher! Edited by Steve220 on 10th Jan, 2019. |

Though it’s old, the R5 spec T2 works quite well on a 998.

Yep, depends what T2. The R5 GT turbo T2 is the same as the later GT1548. Perfect for a 998, full boost from 3500 at the latest. If i have more toys than you when i die, I WIN |

It's a R5 GT Turbo T2, hopefully should spool much quicker than a T3 (so I'm told), feeling slightly relieved from the above. I sourced it from ebay. |

Hi I’ve been thinking it over and decided to chop the bulkhead. Was going to purchase from mini spares. Has anyone else used this one, there’s no info on gauge / thickness but seems good value? Thanks. |

The bulkhead boxes seem to be a generic thing. I'd seam weld the whole thing though. When I bought mine many, many years ago one end had fallen off in the post !

Will do, great advice. I wouldn’t want it coming apart once in. Thanks. |

Cutting the bulkhead is not a good idea unless absolutely necessary. At one time there was no choice in manifolds and turbos, so cutting the bulkhead was the only option.

Thanks Wil, puts me back on the fence again... I was thiking it would just give me much more space generally anyway and better airflow around the whole unit. I had imagined once welded is place it should be quite rigid again. |

The box is not as good as the box section.

It might not appear that good, but when you can make 230+hp using one is it really that much of an issue ? They’re relatively cheap to buy and almost indestructible. 😎

Going a little off topic, I've never run one, but interested to know why a fusion one would be a better choice over the standard one? In terms of flow etc. |

If you believe that running an intercooler makes sense, you should see the flaw in this argument. Granted it’s far from optimal by design. But show me another manifold that fits down the back of the engine that is ? Im sure somebody such as yourself could design far better, but for the cost it’s still a cheap and reliable option. Phil. My point is that the Metro manifold is not that good, so why cut your car to bits to use it.
