I did a similar thing using the ms1 (on a 998 turbo) and although it worked, it was quite inconsistent. I blamed it on the ms1, I believe the ms3 will do a much better job.

kinda thinking I might convert the dizzy to be a cam sensor, and loop 1/2 output into 1 injector and 3/4 into 2nd injector so the fuel charge is fired just as the valve opens so I can minimise the charge robbing with Siamese ports. thoughts ? 1977 Leyland mini Sunshine -- moleseted -- Named " Ray" becoming a 7 port efi slowly

You won't manage to solve the siamese port robbing like that. All you can do with the single TB is run it as a wet manifold system.

so after lots of thinking and homework I've gone down the 7 port road with efi. N I've started building my inlet manifold, which is taking some time as I drive a truck and trailer { you guys call em lorries } 14ish hrs a day.

you might be able to just get away with kicking the back edge of the bonet up by bolting it to the higes with the rear stud on top of the hinge instead of through it. that giveabout 1.5" lift iirc. On 28th Aug, 2011 Kean said:

Although progress is always slow at my end I did mange, with a bit of help from a mate, install the microsquirt yesterday. It is currently only running the ignition side of things but as time progresses it will have more jobs on it's plate. :) 1977 Leyland mini Sunshine -- moleseted -- Named " Ray" becoming a 7 port efi slowly

The jenvey heritage throttle bodies are extremely nice on an Aston, E-type etc. but on a 7/8 port transverse setup they are less than ideal Imho since they're far to bulky for the space available.

I've been told that I need to track down some Kwakka valves as they are longer in the stem and possibly longer springs so I can run more lift at the valve. In the std set up it has a max valve opening of 460 thou and I'm looking at 530 thou + a buffer of 80 - 100 thou for overshoot { safety margin for those BIG rev moments} When I know what Kawka the valves come from I will put it in here :) 1977 Leyland mini Sunshine -- moleseted -- Named " Ray" becoming a 7 port efi slowly

Don't want to piss on your chips, but how will fitting different valves increase valve lift ?

I'm limited atm to std rockers and at the most a cam with 296 thou lift, if I change to longer valves and another set of springs I can gain more lift { 1.5 rockers } and not have the springs bind or the valve retainer touch the stem seal / guide.

Ah I see you're trying to increase the distance between the retainer and the top of the guide/stem seal to allow you to use higher lift.

Those throttle bodies would never fit under a roundnose with a plenum, its one of the reasons mine took so long.

the trick is to use short bodies and turn them upside down so the fuel rail doesnt interfere with the bonnet, thats how it works on the 8 ports. Here for the craic..

That part of the reason I like the Leylands I guess from the picture in the very first post, "Leylands" is what we would call a clubman front. Where are you (update your user profile so it's obvious). And yes, there is a lot more room under the clubman front. Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |
