Fastest "mini" in the world...
Sure, not the winner of the race (the bill Richards metro), but a great achievement from the welsh one!

Agreed, very well driven against some pretty mental machinery. Jims is definately all mini!

Fair bit of damage for people to fix and general mechanical issues, but really enjoyed brands hatch today.

What's the idea behind racing a metro in it? Can I race my metro next year then?

I think that another 12months development and practice, Jim will be outright winner no matter what the competition is driving. A great achievement indeed; just finishing was a major achievement in the heat it seems.

I wonder if he was planning on racing the Clubby until he saw what Jimbo was bringing to the table!

Congratulations Jim and I hope many more pieces of silverware to come!

I'm not being funny but WTF has that got to do with being the fastest mini?

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

I asked Bill "Where's the Mini?" over on facebook, and he responded " Mini metro mate"

I think he's been getting some stick for it and gone all deffensive over it. He never actually answered my question.......

I have a lot of respect for Bill, but i think he is stretching the rule book somewhat. I wonder what would happen next year if Rob Gavin turned up with John Flans old Mini Metro?....... even if he DNF on an empty tank.

Well it is what it is !!! They aren't going to change the rules and take the trophy back of him right now. As much as his metro is not a mini, what about the Vauxhall engined Space framed, or equivalent space frame shiloette racers of the past. They are not really any more mini, than bills metro, which isn't really a metro either...
Bill is a very experienced driver, in a very well-developed race car.
Jimbo is a relatively inexperienced Racer by comparison, in a race car still being developed. With a three bearing crank.

I think it's Obvious who the "morale" winner is!

I suppose the problem lies with the organisers , if they let bill race then that's not his fault , fair game bill.

The jones car is a spaceframe silhouette with a Toyota engine in so apart from bills looking like a metro there very similar lol

I allways think a mini needs a mini engine in !!!!! saying that I questionably have a mini now with my engine in lol

I must say that vtech hayabusa thing looked pretty mental, only just showing its potential.

Agreed that the may as well let most things race otherwise the grid would be very small indeed.

Noice Jim !

hmm Mini Metro 6R4 with a powertec V8 ?

Hey we were in a 'group' that included a well sorted 'old' 911 RS SC, and some heavy metal V8's on a long circuit..so a metro is not bad competition :)

Then again we were running an engine with more ceramics and titanium than you can shake a stick at ,but it is NA and 5 port *smiley*

It should be either a space framed mini silhouette with an A series engine in or modified Steel bodied mini with any engine in. At least there would be some parts from an original mini on each car.
