Annoyingly I am going to miss the race as we're at Goodwood for the members meeting - but I will have my fingers in my ears all day and will watch it when I get home.

Can't wait. As much as I wish I hated F1, I bloody love it.

Probably a Ham/Vet year, I imagine?

Yeah, I hope McLaren pull there fingers out and make some improvements for this year.

From what I've read the TERS and KERS battery system was rubbish and was running out of juice by the end of straights giving them a massive loss in power - hence them being easily over taken.

The penalty point system seems to have been changed giving teams more scope for improvements throughout the season.

Yep, would be good to see them doing better - I'd love to see Alonso fighting at the front again

Thats the argument the likes of Vettel have come up with. But surely there are more aesthetically pleasing ways protecting the drivers bonces.

Doubtful, Doubtful if it would have prevented the Massa 'spring' incident too imo.

Might have saved a few people over the years but i dont agree with it at all. If you really must protect them it should be integrated into the cars design not that abortion tacked on. A windscreen of some description might be a good start.

Ultimately i think really they should take the risk tho, it will be the downfall of all single seater racing if your not careful.

I thought the same, surely a bubble like a spitfire screen would be a better option

trouble with a bubble is heat, in the hot climates the drivers are already cooking as it is.

Haha yeah didn't think of that. Maybe they should make them magnified and add an extra element of excitement

Maybe those clever F1 engineers could make some sort of portable aircon unit, small enough to fit in a car! Imagine that???

However, I don't really like the halo. It has been accepted that it would not have save Bianchi, but probably would have saved Surtiees and Wilson, plus many more.

I am looking forward to the season though. I think Merc are much faster than they are letting and will romp away again. Let hope not, but it is looking likely. Mclaren can't do any worse than last year and Haas are looking surprisingly good.

From what I gather Mercs last Test times werent on Super Soft too where as Ferraris were.

I really hope they dont dominate the season again, as much as its great to see a Brit on the Podium id prefer it to be a much more tighter season between teams rather than just team mates.

The crash looked massive

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.
VEMS + 12 PSI + Liquid Intercooler = Small Bore FUN!

I personally think they should do a cockpit with a top section, so it all comes off better than carbon in the face.

Enjoy it while it lasts, all on Sky from 2019. I won't be paying for it. Shame, I've followed F1 for my whole life. Scope for WRC to fill the gap in the UK if they're clever.

I've just read about that Wil this morning. I'm no avid follower of F1 like some, but still feel its a massive loss.

i think by 10 years or so from now it, if you dont want to see the 55th repeat of home alone christmass edition youll probably will have to pay to see a movie you have only seen 2 times before.

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

Go on eBay and buy a sat box for £80 quid ish, all channels in world for free. Job done.

I dont want a dish on the side of my house or all the shit channels that come with it.

I have Freeview and a smart TV and am happy to pay for downloading films from amazon prime etc.

If I could pay for F1 per race I might be tempted, but not over satelite and I wouldn't want to subscribe.
