Alright Lads, Not done much with the car this year at all due to work commitments etc etc. In fact some of you may know i sold the KAD 16v engine a few months back too. In the background though this is what we have been working on. It has been built in the garage at home. Theres been a lot of mocking up dry builds in and out the car etc.

The idea was to build a motor with around the same power at half the money the KAD engine cost, but whether this has happened im not sure yet, ..... brief spec without boring anyone

998 block fully dry decked
Russel engineering pistons
modified turbo oil pump
Calver turbo cam and followers
Piper duplex timing gear
Calver turbo spec 998 head
1.3 roller tip rockers
GT1548 turbo with manifold to suit remote mounted actuator
Jenvey 48mm throttle body with twin injectors on metro turbo inlet via a home made adapter
Gearbox is all straight cut transfer case modified to fit the breather around the dry deck kit.
Emerald ECU with closed loop boost control, map switching etc etc etc
sytec fuel pump filters and regulator

Engine is ready for running in, thinking of doing that in the car taking the turbo off and running in with a stage 1 kit and dizzy?

Love to here peoples comments/feedback and advise if they see anything that might not work or could be improved upon.

Sounds interesting, be good to see the results. Is this going into the blue car I take it?

Intrested to know what CR you are running. I presume they are flat top Pistons.

What bhp are you shooting for?

From the experience the foam filters are not as good as K&N in terms of filtering

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Ill let you know the compression ratio if it works Graham keeping it higher than your think to maintain good off boost performance relying on really efficent headwork to carry that off, they are flat top pistons you are correct. Hoping for 130bhp at 12psi.

Thanks for the filter comment ill bear that in mind as long as it keeps the rocks out to start.

I just had the same issue in getting the CR down. I ended up using a thick cometic gasket in the end.

I ran mine in on the rollers with some of that millers running in oil and then switched it out on the day with ctv when I built the engine the first time, and it was all good no smoke. It was the rebuild that gave me the issues as I re-used the rings like a dope.

Looks a nice setup. 130 should be easy.

I wouldn't bother installing it with an LCB etc first. Just wack it in and start mapping.

Been a while since last post, engine now in car and it fits. Had a few issues fitting water pipes to turbo but it's all as is now.

Just currently wiring new Ecu and finishing off fuel lines in the car. Got a base map for some running in. Not quite too sure how I'm going to run it in yet but got a day booked at curborough end of this month so hoping to put a few easy miles on it then.

Anyone got any advise on running in?

Matt

Looks good, so clean as well!

Where are you taking the water feed off? Can see one going to the bottom hose, is the other at the stat housing?
