interesting conversion; I could see the temptation but I imagine it is going to come at a price to reflect which will likely detract from the appeal

Not only that but the duty cycle on a bike engine is very much less than a car engine.
Whilst they produce lots of power and are light, they do not last as long in a car as in a bike. In a bike it is unlikely unless you are very competent to hold full throttle for more than a few seconds at a time.Racers do give them more abuse but their engines are rebuilt frequently. In a car they will be held on full power for much longer periods.

Ok maybe for a superlight mini for occasional outings, but not my choice of powertrain.

That is a nice idea. I think duty cycle is irrelevant, this is going to be used the same as most bikes.

A lot of money for a toy though.

Expensive but if you break it down and add up what those parts for an a series cost i bet its on par..
1.3l
11krpm capable
180bhp
Sequential 6 speed
Lsd

What would it cost to build an a series to that spec?

I started on a super a series build then binned it off in favour of a vtec ill be honnest £££ was not a great factor but i bought 3 engines 2 boxes 2 rear diffs and a donor car and still left half the cash in the bank after selling up the a series stuff

It says pricing not available.

So we're just stabbing in the dark with prices. Could be cheap but unlikely!

yeah,

its never goig to be " cheap", but there is mention of a kit, so if you source your own lump, could actually be cost effective for what it is,

yeah my thoughts were for a very lightweight sports sedan mini, utilizing the std-ish (but lightweighted) subframe (or one of Carls titanium jobbys)
& simply bolt in huge grunt.

cost is "so-what", if you have the cash & want an easy fit go-fast thing then so be it

we all pay for our show ride at the local show grounds, we pay for rides in Go-karts,,, we pay for the fun we have in our minis,,, we pay for the shooting games & the arcade games etc, & we all pay for licences & race track days & insurance etc etc etc ,,, money really isn`t the problem when it comes to fun & quality fun at that. It`s up to the individual to decide if he/she can afford it & if he/she wants it really... other opinions matter yes, of course they do,,, but you want something bad enough then you`ll make it happen hey?

I`v been making a billett lower crank case-half & a crank to suit my R1 engine with longer stroke (1760cc) to fit ontop of a mini automatic gearbox case with bike gear-kit inside it,,, but this thing is making me think "WHy bother" ?,,, i`ll just sell one of my houses & buy oine of these kits *smiley*

& turbo it *smiley*

Carl could do a twin engine twin turbo one in a spaceframe *smiley*

Just looking at that machining work..... You aren't going to be getting that housing along for less than 8K, maybe a whole lot more.

That's pretty awesome.

I wonder if the prototype is billet, and maybe a production version could end up being a cheaper cast unit ?

Would be cool too if they could also adapt the transmission for use with an A-series too, kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak.

ah yes, the first one is actually 1435cc, but if it all goes to plan then we`ll kick onto the 1760cc option, which is actually do-able, just that the whole lot is making me go crazy & the time & the money & the headphuk & the & the...
so hence the interest in this hayabusa-mini thing.
if they do actually release a kit for sale & if they are friendly & nice to me, & if i only have to sell one house to buy it *smiley* then that will save me lots of grief & i`ll put my "thing" on the shelf to point & laugh at *smiley*
i`m getting to old & worn-out to stress about toys these days, so once we move into the new premises & the 4x4 turbo R1 buggy is sorted i`ll probably kick back & try to enjoy life instead of stressing out so much *smiley*
well that`s the plan anyways

1st to provide proof of a running Bimmy Conversion!

Brisbane ,Australia

i`ve known of some hayabusa turbo bikes with approx 500hp,,, & i have ridden a turbo-d R1 with 430hp...
so what???,,, you don`t normally drive around everywhere with the foot totally buried at wide open throttle & full revs with 25lb boost around town do you?

even our bimmer-twinky-turbo-injected engines are quite tractable & smooth & quiet & civilized around town off boost low revs... very sophisticated piece of kit easilly well over 250hp if you want it.

i can`t see this being any different except for a little less torque down low,,,, but certainly a lot lighter.

hence my thoughts to fit into super light sports sedan mini weighing maybe 450kgs
just do the wide open throttle & full boost thing on the big long straights on the race tracks,,, & only light throttle & roll into & through the corners with only half-ish throttle & mild revs,,, the thing will be awesome there`s absolutely no doubt & yes i`m serious about buying one.

My little buggy has approx 150ponys & only weighs just under 300kgs (still too heavy & underpowered in my books tho) , , so this is just the next step up & in a mini body not a spaceframe.

& i have the perfect donor car just sitting here begging for it *smiley*

i`ll just take the turbo charged alloy V8 out of it & stick the Hayabusa turbo injected engine in *smiley*

if you don`t have the money,,, or the car,,, or the balls ,,, or the skill ,,, then you don`t do it do you?...

But if you have got the money & the car & the balls & (((ok maybe i`ll have to develop the skills))) *smiley* then you do do it yeah?

if you don`t want one then don`t buy one *smiley*
I like it,,, i want one... & yes insanity *smiley* i like insanity *smiley*
