Any advice of best baulk rings to use on my new gearbox build. Minispares says to use their competition type with there clubman Gear set however I've read bad things about them sticking etc. I've got several used original ones with good clearance.

Wot you guys using?

I've used good original ones on my clubman set. However the MS comp ones are a new design and have just been released so may be worth a go?

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

IMO matt pick the best out of the original ones ........ the others you mention are made of chocolate and are not meant to last.

I read good used OEM ones.

Guessworks sold me some old 60s steel ones. They cost a bit but are no doubt worth it in the long run.

I used MS competition baulk rings with a clubman gear set and they lasted 500 miles max! Now using a set of the genuine rover items and has been great for over 1000miles!

The new MS ones are the only ones to use. You can't have heard bad news about them as I'm not sure many have been fitted yet.

I found these didn't last long at all! Use the "Genuine Rover'' items from Minispares.

I'm confused now. The competition ones are newly designed like the older 60s steel type then.

Should I be the Guinnea Pig ?

I'm pretty sure they've only just come out.

The previous competition ones they sold were useless (From searching around on here).

Maybe ring minispares and make sure they can supply you a set of the new competition ones. It is unlikely they have gone to a lot of trouble to redesign something, only for it to be worse then the part it replaces.

I'm afraid I can't afraid to test them. It's not for my car and he's a grumpy git. He'd be a complete diva if he had to have the engine out again to do gearbox repairs.

Besides the gen rover ones are £4 less and free postage.

Has anyone else gone for genuine green bagged baulk rings only to receive them in opened packets?
