Hi guys,

Being a member for a while, I like to show you my Mini and to be turbo'ed soon.

It is a complete original Mini 1000 deluxe from 1973 called Annie, I'm the 3rd owner of this little beauty. I put it for sale a couple of weeks ago, because I don't like to touch the originality of the car, but there is not much respond to my advertisements. So, now I decided that I will use this Mini, but the conversion should be reversible and I like to keep her from the outside as standard as possible. *evil*

I purchased already the following items for my turbo engine:

1275 route
- CAM6581 Crank
- Metro turbo plenum
- Metro turbo carb
- have some inlet manifolds, have to take a look for the best useable 1
- 1275GT short block (Crankshaft needs regrinding thats why I bought CAM6581)
- Innocenti Conrods, these are strenghed
- 11 stud head, need to be machined
- Duplex Vernier timing gear

So, still some items need to be bought like:
- camshaft, Ph2 or 266 or MG Metro
- Pistons
- Turbo GT1752 (ex Saab)
- Outlet Manifold
- 4 pin diff
- Megajolt or Nodiz
- 7.5 inch disc setup
- etc. etc.

On the other hand, I have a good 998 A+ engine standing around, so I'm also thinking to use that 1st as a turbo engine, which is giving me time to do a good rebuilt on the 1275 together with a gearbox. Comments are welcome *smiley*

I will use old skool *happy* GB alloys

Nice babe! Indeed keep it standard looking! Minis like that go fortunes around here! ( but give it an engine that goes like shit of a shovel. .)

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018

Hi guys, thanks for the positive comments.

apbellamy, sorry, I dont have a sister *hehe!*

Rammie2000, if you know a buyer, I was actually looking for a Clubman estate, on the other hand, it is also nice if I have a wolf in sheepclothes *hehe!*

Yo-han, I'm living in the East, nearby Hengelo, in principle I'm interested in the break setup, but, tomorrow I will go to Suriname for 1 month (work).

Guys, I still don't know what to do, I have a 12G295 head laying around for a 998cc setup. The head is in a good condition, it only needs a lead free conversion. So, if I go the 998cc route I have almost all the parts already. Which is giving me time to do a good rebuild on the 1275 block.

What are your thoughts??

Go for it. It will give you time to get the other stuff sorted before you build an engine for it.

You'll be surprised at how well the 998 turbo goes :)

This is nice! I say keep the standard wheels and hubcaps and slip the turbo on as discreetly as possible.

Hi Jay#2, I wish I can use the standard wheels and hubcaps, but as far as I know this will not fit with a 7.5 inch brake set up. But do you know if these hubcaps will fit on the Cooper S steel rims?

Anyhow, I think I will go first for the 998cc set up, is it adviceable to use the gt17 turbo, or am I better of with the gt15 series?

The specs of the engine will be:
-A+ 998cc
- MG metro cam or similar
- vernier duplex timing gear
- 12g295 head unskimmed
- prob Minispares inlet manifold
- outlet manifold dont know yet
- intercooler to be investigated, should fit in a standard round nose
- I think I will go for a Nodiz ecu, but not sure yet, I like to have some advice on this, I read the topics on the forum already *happy*

I run 7.5" discs with reverse rims but I have used the standard 10" steels as a spare without issues.

Just keep it as original as possible.
I would use the standard wheels and hubcaps. Those will stick out a bit but will still be ok. With bespoke/mirage exhaust manifold you will be able to put turbo in it without modifying the bulkhead, to keep the modifications returnable.

Hi guys,

Small update on my project. Today I picked up a donor car. A fully original 87 MG Metro turbo with 88000 miles on the clock.
The body is beyond repair, but the engine runs so nice and sweet.

For the last 10 years the car was not on the road anymore, but it was starting and running.

So the plan is to take all the parts af the car which I can use and sell. Then take the engine apart, check it, change seals, gaskets etc and put it in my Mini.

Pics will follow asap

Hi guys,

Unfortunately I had to sell my Mini due to relocation somewhere else in the world. To be precise Suriname.

This will be at least for 1,5 year, most likely after that we will move to the Philippines. Anyhow, I had a serious look into it to take the Mini with us, but that will be to expensive.

Sooo, different plan. The turbo engine I bought is coming with me, which is giving me time in Suriname to build a nice engine. No rush etc.

I will keep you updated in the future.

Rene
