You say it can be driven home in the metro. Does this mean you are selling a metro turbo with this motor for £2600? If so you may get takers on the MOC.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Cant seem to find the specs on MED T5 cam
Ive got the T3 cam
so im guessing its a similar to the profile of the Avonbar phase 3 cam?

WRLondon - the T5 cam is listed as "the ultimate turbo cam with 300 degrees of exhaust duration and .400” lift" on the MED website.
John - I am planning on advertising on the MOC website too, but I think the engine/gearbox/ancillaries maybe of specific interest to TM users

hi Graham

Do you know if the chambers have been enlarged in the head and what compression ratio the car is running? i'm assuming from the exhaust and downpipe that its running a t3, is that a standard item?

very interested in this.

Tim

Block is prepped for a Group A head gasket - can you still buy these anywhere?

Hi Tim, the standard turbo head doesn't have enlarged chambers, only the ports have been enlarged. Unfortunately I never got round to working out the compression ratio, but it will be lower than standard because of the pistons.

Yes its running the standard turbo.

PM me if you want some more photos

No, they are NLA I'm afraid. Phill took months to find one and eventually got one from Portugal iirc. and that was a jammy find from a post on here.

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

if that pic is of the engine at tdc, it looks like the Group A cutt outs could be removed with a hefty skim

That is what I was thinking too Brett. Would require some correction of the rocker geometry though.

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

Lake District

If I remember right the cutouts are about 0.040" deep into the block, so would need a decent skim.

The cut-outs would be easily fixed with a single sheet of 1mm stainless laser/water jet cut to the shape of the combined recesses (kinda like the outside of the audi emblem).

Certainly no reason to not purchase this great spec powertrain!

I've been tempted before to cut a recess just like that into a block and wire ring the head with a dry deck and have a copper fire ring water jet cut. who really needs a full face gasket when you dry deck anyway? Formula one engines don't even use a fire ring, just the wire ring!

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
