As its @ bare shell stage thought it would be good to start a new chapter

Almost finished the in-out respray;


And now the new bits are almost ready to bolt on!

Is that satin or gloss white? Satin looks good! :)

So what is the plan?

its satin atm as it needs flatting back and polishing haha

plan is
1293 turbo
Omega forged pistons,
MED T3 Cam
t3 turbo & adjustable wastegate 10-15psi
radtec radiator
etc.

got new subframes painted and built up
hi-lows, lowered coil spring conversion
new gaz adjustable shocks

basically everything new :)

and white (REAL) leather interior
pics will speak a 1000 words
and i could probably type 2000 about the spec!

Lacquered but came up with some orange peel


Wet-sanded looking abit better
Takes bloody ages!
Still needs tcut'ing & polishing

what are you flattening that back with? I go straight in at 800-1000 grit went and dry on mine. working back through 1500, 2000, 2500 grit to take the scratches out. then machine polish with g3 cutting compound, followed by g10, then polish, then wax. I use plenty of water, also a bit of washing up liquid in with the wet and dry. its very time consuming but worth it in the end.

1200 - 1500 - 2000
12 was BOGOF haha

havent used g3, just have a lot of t-cut about but not got round to that yet

engine's built up now though!

is there a massive positive reason to spend £15 on g3?

think ive got some auto glym cutting compound too

If you buy and use g3, you need to use a mop, or it is very possible to tram line with your fingers.
If you haven't got a mop, use g6 on a rag etc, then g10 and then I personally use 3m hand glaze after that, but people will have other opinions about wax.

Looks like you got a fair bit done.

As for the cutting back etc, i generally work on paper graded depnding on how much needs to be cut back, finishing wth 2500 then use g3 on the mop. To be honest, if you've not got a mop, i'd try and get one for the job, buy or borrow. It makes a huge differance

Doubt it. I struggled to get a decent polish using one years ago so doubt very much it would be quick enough for a cutting compound

I would stop putting it together and sort the paint first. G3 on a mop goes everywhere so would get that out of the way first!!

Got mine from frost a while ago, wasnt a bad price. You can get different corse mops for it, ie a g3 one for cutting, a softer grey one for g10/ polish. Make sure you use plenty of water as you can burn the paint if it goes dry, especially with the g3/ corse mop

No pics atm but pretty much mechanically done
Will be starting for the first time Toni and have it completed by the weekend

Carpet fitted and cut to size just needs glueing
Dash all hooked up
Quick shot of the boot with fuel pump
Will get a shot of the rear subby when it's time to bleed the brakes



Still got to fit;
Front brake hoses
Roof, glass, seats, door stuff & exhaust
Bleed the hydraulics
But feeling like the home stretch

Should be done in the next few days!
