I'm sure some already know this but during last weekends TM Swap Shop when Rob got his Metro, Andy got his Pond Liner and someone else got a new toy I acquired this little beauty from Oli.




Plans are to keep it looking as it is now, although I'll probably go back to a MK1 Morris Cooper Grille. It has come with some paint so will get the bonnet in colour too.

I also love the retro dash Oli made for it

With the assistance of Mr BENROSS I am making a start on the engine for it:-

+20 Cast 10cc omega's
6581 Crank
Avonbar PH2 Cam
1.3 Roller Rockers
BENROSS Head (old one from the metro van)
Clubman SC/CR box with X-Pin Diff and 3.1 FD
Matty Manifold and GT17
RTS
Megajolt
Etc Etc

I'm going to replicate the IC setup Oli had in here as it seemed to work quite well for him and I already have the 2WD Cossie cooler for the job. Unfortunately I am going to have to steal a number of components from my Clubby to get this on the road, (head, carb, gearbox etc) so knowing me that means the Clubby will never see the light of day again!

Whilst I get the engine together I have a couple of little jobs to do on the car but nothing big.
Hoping to be on the road for the summer but I am not in any rush. I would rather do it right and take a little longer rather than rush to meet a deadline only to have to re-do it!

Lovely looking car, but will you be able to put a standard bonnet on there, painted to match ?

I'd like to put a standard bonnet on there Dave, however it would really need some sort of ventilation in it for the intercooler.

Glad to see this is staying 'in the family' John.

Tempting as it is, I would keep the Clubman in one peice and take my time building up the saloon. Perhaps your a little more organised and driven than me, but I'd just end up with 2 cars not going anywhere as opposed to just 1! (my current shed has 4 cars - none of which are on the road)

I don't really have any other option for parts at the moment Rob. But don't worry I have a replacement gearbox, head, carb etc for the Clubby. They just need a bit of work before fitting them. I'm hoping to have both on the road by the end of the year as I'd like to get the 2014 season out of the Clubby before tearing it down for a resto.

It's grand. Might have to get it it's own flat cap to sit on the dash. It's currently awaiting stripping and putting to one side whilst I finish the mini...
