well, as some of you will know, I've already got one of the longest running turbo projects on the go (I've been at it since around 1999 ish), a clubby estate needing a bit of TLC and a 1960 traveller sitting in the backgorund waiting for resto. So, struggling to get any time with a new family, business, house to deal with, I've been considering slimming down the project fleet and concentrating on getting some of the cars actually finished.

So the only obvious thing to do was buy another toy..............

yes, i'm now the custodian of Flan's metro. After hating them after running an MG back in the early 90's (I couldn't wait to get rid of it) i've strangely been wanting another one in the past few years.

Not quite sure what I'm going to use it for yet; I may go hillclimbing with it but again, I may just build it up for a track car. The end use will dictate the engine spec but I have decided it will stay A series whatever I do.

Driving back up yesterday with Keith Timpson, the plan is certainly to do a colour change to white with suitably accented body kit etc in applejack green.

Now, what I don't want to do is be distracted from finishing the mini first as it is a long way to run up that strip without it!

Glad to see it is going to a good home, personally I think I'd keep it in the blue/orange combo, its a well known car but painting it would turn it into "just" a white and green metro.

It's far from it's original racing colours these days, can't see the harm in making it your own.

I know where you coming from Tom, but as it is not that close to original now and is unlikely to be back on the track as a challenge car, I fancy the change.

for those of you that understand the whole bigoted glasgow football thing (and i'd be clear I don't give a feck about football), the existing and proposed colour schemes have already raised eyebrows..... perhaps flatcap tweed would be a better combo

might not be far from the truth in more ways than one! my first metro was nicknamed the hover metro due to the low stance. This has already been called hover metro mk2.

Keep your eyes open for a decent mk2 turbo bonnet for it. Looks strange having a mk1 bonnet and a mk2 nose.

I remember watch this car race back in the 90s, IIRC it had checkers and Wallace & Gromit stickers on it but I'm sure JF will correct me.

you could be right Rob; I've seen photos of it with the checkers and Jon mentioned something about all the cars built by the guy were given wallace and grommit names.

I've been looking at some historic photos (can't find many on the interweb to be honest) with the original colours and checkers and am tempted to restore
