I'm Jamie from derby and abit of a newbie when it comes to turboing!
I'm currently running in a 1980 modified mini, it has a 1293 engine putting out a healthy 80bhp at the wheels. But the engine is now sold so I best get on with turboing!

I'm building this engine for fast road and track day fun!
I have brought josh28s turbo block and when it arrives ill be taking it to benross for further modifications and hopefully I will also be buying a benross head while I'm there. I will have a gearbox casing in my hands in the next few weeks and will be fitting minispares sc gear kits and hopefully if funds allow a quaife ATB. I'm also still on the lookout for a gt1752 if anyone has one for sale? Cheers

Just one question when I attach my pics why are they so small? Is there a better way to do it or is it because I'm on a iPad

Hi Jamie, you need to upload the pictures on to something like photo bucket then copy the codes into the post. Not sure if you can do it off an iPad though. Other than that its use the attachment button but if you press on the photo it does open bigger.

Nice looking mini too, looking at turboing mine next *happy* so will be watching the trend.

What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve
MITP 2012 17.01 seconds 1/4 mile against "The Don"
MITP 2013 16.83 seconds 1/4 mile

if you want to make them larger, upload them the same as you have then (CTRL) click on the small picture and it loads larger into another window

copy the web address ( eg http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/attachments/507197-1.jpg )

then put it into [img [/img] code ( [img] ) ( the little square above the smilly faces ->->->
like this

Just a little bit of progress guys, I now have quite a few bits in my possession, eg, turbo, carb, bosch dumpvalve, a full straight cut gear kit and a full rebuild kit for a gearbox.
hopefull this Sunday my old na engine will be out and gone and then I can get cracking solid mounting my front subframe and fitting my fuel return line,
Just a couple of questions the dump valve was off a saab 9000 will this be of any use to me or am I best to just go and buy a aftermarket one?
And will there be any need to buy an aftermarket actuator?

Looks good Jamie, nice clean car, With ref to your question, If it was me I'd Just use the one you have for now and see how it performs as it might be good enough.

Here's a quick pic of the intercooler hope fully it should be able to be positioned exactly as it is then it should have optimism airflow, how close is a standard alternator to the support behind the grill out of interest?

Had abit of progress, have nearly managed to get the engine complete with the ancillaries
There's a few things to do before I drop it in one bieng sorting the oil drain, how do people usually do this as mine is so tight I think ill struggle to get a hose on due to the radius!

any ideas guys?

And then I have noticed that my alloy tube I had welded on is slightly touching the edge of the timing case, if I was to remove that bolt and put two more above and below it do you think I'd be able to skim 7/8mm off the edge of timing case so I can get a hose on?

Then hopefully ill be able to drop it in so i can have the exhaust down pipe made to suit!

mate you could have drilled your gearbox and put your oil drain straight in to that if you'd have thought about it before it all got bolted together.

You have loads more room than me. I cut my oil drain down off the turbo to less than half its original length. You'll get a pipe on there.

Drill the timing case either side of that bolt and re fix it then grind the edge off you'll be alright.
