Hi Guys,

By battleroc at 2012-08-18

then after after sorting the welding out and sanding her down i got her to this state

By battleroc at 2012-08-18

By battleroc at 2012-08-18

and after a good spray i got her to this>>>>>>>>>

By battleroc at 2012-08-18

now i have started the work on the turbo build ive removed the SPI set up

By battleroc at 2012-08-18

and pulled out the old clutch set up and installed this AP race clutch with grey back

By battleroc at 2012-08-18

removed all the wires

By battleroc at 2012-08-18

now this is where it gets intreasting i am not going for the standard set up of where most people put the turbo i am fitting it over the clutch

By battleroc at 2012-08-18

Hi Chalkie,

nothing crazy spec as its my 1st build but i am sure after i get the Turbo bug i will want to upgrade to get more Bananas

so far:
refurb Hif44 turbo carb & plenum (from metro turbo)
Turbo inlet manifold (from metro turbo)
1275 head reworked by Turbo Phil on here
Megajolt lite jr /edis/ coil pack/trigger wheel
Garrett turbo GT1548
minispeed 1.5 high lift rockers
And an intercooler will choose after work out how much space I have left

What I am planning to do is get the car up to around 90-100bhp

I like the turbo position. Should be relatively easy to route the exhaust to/from it. What's clearance like on the clutch arm?

Hi apbellamy, clearance is not bad I had to mock up the bracket in alloy 1st then bend about till I got it then made it up in steel.

Soon fins out exact space for pipe work out of turbo as I am making up exhaust tomorrow

Update....ok so started on making up the manifold. a good mate of mine machined some flanges up in advance to get us started. then I got to work cutting the pipework up and spot welding the pipework in place (check out the Ikea work bench) *smiley*

So after having my head reworked to lower the compression a while ago ive just come round to assembling it and fitting the 1.5 high lift rockers.

Also I gave my rocker cover a paint in matt black and polished up the top finns, i was pleased i think it came pretty good

By battleroc at 2012-09-03

Then started to spot up some more pipework for the turbo i am about 90% finished on the manifolds so should have this put to bed soon

Is that servo staying?

Would it be plausible that the heat from the turbo could cook the brake fluid?

In the 13's at last!.. Just

It's prbobably up for grabs. It's such a twat to fit the downpipe , even without it, so it's been sat in the garage for over a year.

ok so got some update on the car.

so finished the manifold (forgot to take pics will take when i get a chance) so now started on making up a alloy plate for my new billet engine steady as the old plate was rusted and there was no way i was going to spend over a £100 on the new engine steady to put it on top

then i changed the oil pump to a turbo one as well as changed the tower mounts to the solid alloy ones then painted the block and fitted the head gasket and head

then started to fit the oil pressure swith and starter motor back on and placed the rocker cover back on to check out what it looks like.....

i have managed to make the megajolt loom up and am running it in as well as i fitted the sensor and trigger wheel so all in all not a bad sunday on the car. am going to take some time off work to hammer out a few days on the car!! cant wait to get it done now as i see a light at the end of the tunnel

Looks good mate, but what pistons are lurking in there? And what psi you planning on running

13.95 1/4 mile on a 2.95 fd. Carnt be that hard to beat!

I am using the spi pistons and going to run a max 10psi. I am sure I will want more then I will upgrade loads like cross pin diff drop gears, omega pistons...it's my 1st turbo so starting off simple then taking it from there
