I started figuring out how I'm going to route the charging system on my estate today.

The basic idea is that air will come through the O/S of the grill to the charger, down to a intercooler in the valance, then back up in the plenum, through a throttle body and into the engine.

The plenum needs a little fettling but it shouldn't be too big of a deal.

I'm planning to run everything off on belt with the alternator sat bellow the charger.

interesting; could you not run a side mount rad and get the intercooler behind the grille?

Thought I'd have a tinker with the engine steadies today. I wanted rose joint on the engine but a bush at the bulk head to try and keep a little damping so I set to work on a standard steady bar.

First I chopped up the standard engine steady.

Then I tapped a 5/16 UNF thread into the end of each one and cut down a pair of bolts to act as studs for the turnbuckle.

A bit of hose to stand in for the turnbuckle and it looks like it should work. It will also allow me more clearance for the dry deck pipe work around the core plug.

I'll be using the other end of the steady for the water pump side of the engine so made a couple mounting tabs up quickly.

This is roughly where it will sit using another small turnbuckle and a rose joint going to a bracket on the water pump.

I recently decided the old boot floor wasn't up to snuff so pulled it out and have been making a new one as well as fitting a new rear step sill and corner sills.

Nasty old floor, far to many patched in parts.

New step sill and corner sills.

New boot floor as of today with better positioned 6.5 gallon tank box.

Thanks for the kind words guy. There's not much going on with the engine at the moment as I'm spending most of my money on equipment and parts to do other things on the car.

The plenum (and it is a plenum) is off a Maestro that I picked because of it's clutch side exit and general coolness. It needs a bit of modification but I need to teach my self to TIG first.

goodluck with the tig. dont go buying a scratch start tig it needs to be a high frequency start otherwise you contaminate the tungsten. with welding alu its all about prep and get everything perfectly clean. Ideally you use stainless wire brushes but i have used normal for non major stuff. you will need something to sense the boost for the carb either a reluctor ring (or whatever its called) like used on the original plenum or i have seen a tube in the inlet pipe centre.

Fortunately we've already got a decent TIG that Dad uses for repairing alloy motorbike engine casings so I just need to learn how to use it. *happy*

Got the tank box 99% fo the way there now, just a few plug welds left that I'll do when the shell's bare again.

Thanks guys. Fabrication's the easy bit for me, the engine build's where it's going to get tricky.

I had a look into what Im doing with the rear valance. I didn't want to use the standard one as it's quite shallow so I'm going to have a local company roll some steel so I can make a deep one.

I use the shrinker to make a silhouette of the new valance. The standard one is 8CM deep and the new one will be 16CM deep.

I think it should help make the back end look a little lower and do a good job of hiding the exhaust that will be behind it.

I also started fabrication on the frames for my wind down rear windows.

It is indeed.

I've got it all worked out in my head, now I'm just hoping it'll work in the real world.
