I've just been told that the Sunday is Minis only apart from the odd invited drag racer, (SO NO RWUB) this should help speed things up for all the runners.





British Mini Club Sunday - Billed as a Mini drag fest in every sense of the word, the British Mini Clubs annual quarter mile blast is a unique event in itself to compliment the clubs existence and to compliment the BMC’s extensive show portfolio. Believe it or not owners of classic Minis take drag racing seriously as they try for the top times against the clock in a quarter of a mile dash.

Although the A-Series engine is morally still king, there are more and more Vauxhall V-Tec and motorcycle bike powered Minis seen every year. The quarter mile is of course always open to every classic Mini and new Mini owners with eleven classes to choose from. So it really can’t get any better than that!

We don’t expect everyone to beat the amazing sub 10 second runs but what we do know is that from year to year a new challenge is issued and always someone comes home with the prize in becoming the Fastest Mini In The World!

In 2010 we saw John Haston set a blistering time of 12.63 seconds to claim the 'Quickest A Series Mini In The World’ crown in his turbo Mini, while the 'Quickest Mini In The World’ title still belongs to the incredible Mini of Stuart Mead’s in 9.79 seconds set the previous year in 2009. Stuart, who's Mini runs an incredible 650bhp from a Zetec ST170 engine, always promises to try and be quicker. These Minis really have to be seen to be believed. They are superb pieces of engineering making the Showdown worth the visit to watch the top Minis run!

We have a class ready for you from 850cc to Forced Induction Race Mini classes from 1300cc to Space Framed to Rear Engined unlimited cc beasts. The new MINI is very well catered for as and is more than welcome to blast down the track from MINI Ones to the full spec’d MINI Cooper S. Come give it a try you’ll love it.

I think it should be restricted to a series, since there are so many mini based variants. At least we dont have to watch those kids on the shitty little drag bikes

To be honest the Junior drag bike kids parents/friends etc tend to be the marshalls. Without them there would be no RWYB either.
