here is my mini clubman shell which i hope to get back on the road as soon as i possibly can. however long that takes buying parts out of every thursdays wage packet who knows.

my current plan engine wise i to fit a 998t via the '90ish bananas for £600' route so ive got all the parts i need, and then whilst running this i can then take my time and build a 1275 based engine and gearbox to cope with it. *smiley*

i got it from here http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=406390

Tidy project, shell looks clean other than the odd small patch of metal worm.

looks really nice as a starting point. is it a later shell with a clubby front on?

I am led to believe that is a pukka GT shell

its a proper clubby shell with steel inner wings, twin tower bolt front subframe mounts. the arches have been blended on with filler. i dont really mind about that but its not ideal. im not after a show car when its done, just something i can drive everyday and enjoy. i need to get it water tight and rolling asap then ill sort out the drivers side floor and the scuttle corner and take it from there.

any ideas on what colour it is? looks like the same red as the mini thirty to me but not too sure.

There is something wrong if it is a 78 shell and it has twin bolt subframe towers:s

Its a p reg so its not 78, ive got some sorting out to do to work out exactly what its history is. Its had a lot of repairs done to it in the past so once ive had a dig around I mite get closer to the truth.

this the reason why i dont or didnt know which front subby was meant to be fitted. there is markings to show it was last used with a single tower bolt frame so why are the other two holes there??

bought a few bits today, and also got a free steering wheel. ive had a steering rack (prob to use for exchange), a column with ignition barrel and key. also got a 12g202 towards turbo'ing a 998. had a go at cleaning one of the chambers up which ended up with me starting to remove a bit of metal. i stopped myself as i couldnt find a syringe to measure what id done. prob doesnt amount to half a cc but better to be safe i thought.

The middle hole on my twin bolt is for the Hydro. Mine is a 69/70 round nose.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Shouldn't it have the correct recess under the cross member for which subframe type it uses?

that was what i thought when i first saw it. they weren't on twin bolt in 76 though. the last time it was on the road it was with a sigle tower bolt frame so i really havnt got a clue. there's no holes in the floor pan as thats where the twin bolt subby mounts i think. just 2 holes in the lower bulk head/heel board where a single bolt frame attaches. so ???????

this turned up in the post today, GT1544 from a vaux diesel, .35ar exhaust and .33 on the compressor. from the reading up ive done i think this should be good for a 998 build, and also a lower boost 1275 at a later date aswell.

cant believe how small it is, got the oil feed and return with it and the cast elbow aswell. bargin for £50 plus tenner post. very minimal play in the shaft. i'll bring my clock home from work tomorrow to check just how much there is.

since yesterday when the turbo arrived ive been thinking about making a remote mount manifold with the turbo over the flywheel. simply because as i have the cast elbow, and the original oil feed and return pipes i thought that as this is my first build it would probably be easier for me to mount the turbo at its original angle and use all the standard vaux bits to start with, once i get a downpipe to suit.
after a search on the forum last night i have a few questions about remote manifolds, with the position of the turbo and length of the runners does it have to be made of stainless steel or will mild steel be ok?? also i saw a pic of a standard cast mani with a single pipe running from the manifold to the turbo, this option seems simplest but what is the down side if any??
hope you guys can help me with your knowledge thanks Wez

King Gaycharger, butt plug dealer, Sheldon Cooper and a BAC but generally a niceish fella if you dont mind a northerner

Brett's making his first remote turbo manifold from old LCBs if it works then you can maybe remake it in stainless and have it pro welded etc.

I saw a few pics of manifolds that looked lcb based, there seems to be a few options. When ive looked at pics of the janspeed set up its not to different to an lcb look, it appears to have a similar shape but 3 into 1, looks to be made from mild steel too.

got my rear subframe assembly cleaned up, painted and put back together with a new bolt kit and polyflex bushes. well my lady said she wanted to help so i gave her the brush and paint *smiley* while i striped and cleaned everything.

i'll fit the arms to the subby when they are with the car, just makes it easier to transport.

few small updates, ive fitted my rear subby, picked up a front subby on ebay for rather cheap and got the mrs to paint that for me today. also picked up a complete 8.4 brake ass' and some 12x5 revs that need a bit of a recon. slowly but surely. hopefully weather permitting i'll have it rolling this weekend so i can weld the floor and sill next.

Smooth the beak out of the head buddy. See the Vizard bible but basically you want to copy the 12G295 and 12G940 shape.
