Iv been on here a while so thought it would be a idea to start a progress thread for my mini. I got her off ebay hadnt seen her, so was a bit of an impulse buy. £800 cant go wrong, for my money i got mg metro 1275 engine, hi-los, turbo 4pots and vented discs thats the interesting stuff. Heres the pictures:

At the moment she is a bare shell at my mates who is doing the work. Already had it sand blasted and needs wings, A panels, scuttle, front panel, both door steps, both inner and outer sills, boot floor repair and rear lower repair panel. The over sills didnt help.

Here are some more pictures:

thats some of them to show how bad it is. And he is also replacing all the previous patches as the welds didnt penetrate. Here is some repairs going in.

The plan is for it to look like this:

Iv already got all the panels, including FG boot lid and bonnet and rather then 13's iv got 6X10 wellers with group 5 arches. And on to the turbo side of things *wink* i cant afford to turbo my engine at the moment so im collecting parts. Il let the pictures do the talking:

and i have the inlet manifold and im getting one of mattys GT17 manifolds made up.

Thanks Harry

Some nice bits collected though and a nice target look, love the white / black. Best of luck, keep at it!

Get your mate to teach you to weld. It's very satisfying doing it yourself. Can be quite frustrating at times though

Fair point *smiley*

If you can weld, then a mini should be easy enough. External seams make things a lot easier...

haha well its only him working on the car and i doubt he could lift it off. Me and him struggled lifting the shell over the front subframe - bit of wood across the wings tied on and 1,2,3 LIFT

not much happened lately, apart from the PS cross member had loads of holes and bodges so Rob made up a new one from a bit of sheet steel and a folder. And he has got the PS sill/floor door step done and then its onto the boot floor and lower rear panel :/
On a brighter note ordered my cooper s disks and some yoko A008's and small bits i need.

they should work now and i may as well let you all in on what iv bought recently; 12 to 10' brake conversion, black door handles, 4x yoko A008's, black door cards (front and rear), door pockets, 11 blade plastic fan, new headlamp rings, plastic headlamp bowl kit and a 8 piece delux anti damp carpet set in black. And on saturday im going to order the black headlining, car mats, black mirrors, black grille and surrounds and finally some black bonnet stripes. Also done a bit of searching and found you can spray your dash rails so rather then poo brown i can have yes you guessed it black thanks to halfrauds flexible vinyl paint.

Haven't really updated this for a while but rob has got some other bits done the drivers side sill/step/qauter pannel/floor etc is all as good as done, so its just a few fiddly bits and the boot and then to spot the wings etc on so were really starting to get some where, there will be pics at the weekend.

been a while since my last post, but the front end is now on and only the doors to go. The floor is going to prepped for spraying and stone chip etc. And the engine is going to be sent to minimaster for a gearbox rebuild and diff ratio change and a quick once over. Can anyone recommend a good N/A cam for my engine or is the mg one good enough?
