I've drafted the attached as a general guide to engine mods required to fit a turbo. It would answer a lot of newbie questions.

My only comment would be for 100 bananas I would not bother with centre main strap or ARP bolts which you have said is ok and I guess just an asperation.

Looks like a good start. Am sure a few people will be able to add to this. And a few disagreements may be aired. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

Freaks!? Must be to do with some of us looking like BBC tv presenters and tea-pots. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

This is a great idea. Being new to the turbo A-series there are a couple of questions that I would have and could be answered on your resource sheet.

In my opinion either block should be fine. It it rumoured the pre-a+ were made of stronger stuff but I have no evidence other than rumour & hearsay.

Could it be discuused (and the then sheet expanded) - is there something which you all do (and wouldn't dream of not doing) when building a FI engine ? |

Could you use the GT1752 off the aero models on the 200bhp+ category? Is thsi the same as a Mitsi TD04? |

I don't believe that they use the GT17 on the aero models. Saul Bellow - "A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep."

A good idea Paul, only bit I would query are the H-section rods- the only person I know running these off the top of my head are Turbo Phil?

I know what you mean Tom, but having assembled all the parts for a 200+hp engine, I just felt that the standard rods were the weakest link. That's a really good sheet Paul, Obviously it shouldn't be cluttered up with too many options like "Benross elbow's" for example, but i think adding in intercoolers may be an idea as its a commonly asked question by newbies. It should just say 'Fit the biggest one you can get under the bonnet' http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

very nice, i would add a target compression ratio, as the more boost you run the lower the cr to help with having headgasket problems?
